First off, many thanks to Greg and his team at GTM. A super friendly bunch that are very skilled and approached the install in a very professional manner. Greg’s concern throughout the entire install was for it to be clean, stealthy, and most importantly, correct. They did a great job as you can see from the pics.
I am completely happy with the exhaust. The fit and finish are top-notch. You can see the welds in the pictures and they are just fantastic. I knew Swamp would like them? I was pleasantly surprised by how perfect the tips looked. One issue I have with a lot of the aftermarket exhausts and the tips they use is the tips are generally single walled and a dull finish. The finish on the SS tips are excellent and they look great sitting under the rear bumper. The “KSG” etching adds a really nice feel to the tips too.
The muffler canisters are finished off with a high polish and again look great. I am extremely pleased with how the exhaust looks. It was better than I hoped for and of course it is a direct bolt on with connecting pipes and non-adjustable tips. That is not a negative as the tips are perfectly aligned and there is no need for them to be adjusted. There were absolutely no clearance issues with the whole exhaust and everything fit perfectly. No modification was needed and it fit like stock. Again, the construction of the exhaust is so right down to every measurement.
Silent Mode
In this mode it’s not even a question of how livable it is because there is no downside to this mode. It sounds better than stock and eliminates any drone experienced while in F1 mode. This mode is perfect if you are on a date, pulling into your neighborhood and feel like being “neighborly” or just feel like relaxing the character a bit. It’s hard to describe in words how much the sound changes when you close the valve. It just becomes a different great sounding exhaust without the extra loudness. The ability to switch the exhaust sound and the actual sound are what sold me on the exhaust but to experience the operation of the valves and how much it transforms the sound is f@cking remarkable! If any exhaust would complement the character of the M3, the adjustability and customization of the car to one’s tastes, this exhaust is perfectly designed and implemented to handle it. What other exhaust can you choose the sound levels you want and switch between them when you want?
F1 Mode
Awesomeness. People refer to their cars as beast’s, but you don’t know “Beast” until you hear the valves open on a Kreissieg exhaust. To me, it just sounds so mean and downright mad. The takeoffs in F1 mode are great and highly enjoyable, cracking a smile. F1 mode just seems to unleash the engine from its restraints and bellows out. You can hear the tone change as you increase in revs and it keeps getting better as you rise in revs. Throttle blips are to-die-for. As if I didn’t do them enough before I will be all over them now. : Very enjoyable and again the ability to switch from one distinct sound to another is so right and exactly what I was looking for. There is some minimal drone with this exhaust in F1 mode, as to be expected with louder exhausts. To cover typical highway speeds; in sixth gear at 70 mph the drone is noticeable but does not consume the cabin and make conversation difficult or music hard to hear. Sixth gear at 75mph, the drone is reduced further and sixth gear at 80 mph, the drone is very slightly noticeable and completely livable with regular conversation and music with no real noticeable annoyance. Everyone’s taste in their tolerable amount of drone is different but no matter what I say, if you find a certain amount of drone to be more annoying than not, you can always press the little button on the supplied key fob and change into quite mode.
The Kreissieg unit may cost more than others but you are getting two exhausts in one here. Two exhausts that you get to choose the sound for and adjust as you see fit. The ultimate in customization. Not to mention the insane attention to detail and superb build quality as you can see from all the pictures.
Closing Thoughts
The Kreissieg unit was all I hoped for and exactly what I wanted. No buyer’s remorse whatsoever.
Good bye to that ugly stock exhausts, minus the stock tips, which I liked. Just a little small.
Got to love the usability of an M3 when you can carry your stock exhaust in the trunk of your car. Props!
It felt like there was some increased hp/tq during my travels so far but I won't make any claims without anything to back it up besides my posterior.
Do you think it is worth the extra cost to have adjustable exhaust note considering how awesome it sounds in F1 mode? I think I would always have it in that mode. Sounds great!

perfect for someone like me who doesn't want F1 Monday through Friday but weekends and play time...that's been the main reason mine is still stock....
That said...I REALLY like the fact that you can 'quiet' that exhaust. I love loud exhausts, just not all the time. I wouldn't have a stock exhaust if I could pick and choose when it was quiet/loud. I really like the concept and that exhaust.

Sounds sick!!! I love the Krei$$ieg exhaust - and why is your intake plenum off - adding an extra atmosphere perhaps???
Plenum had to come off to reach vacuum source.

I most definitely think it is worth the cost. The ability to change between the two is simply awesome.
