M5 with Advan RS-Ds and H&R Springs

This customer sent us in photos of his track monster and street dominating BMW M5 with his newly equipped Advan RS-D wheels lowered on H&R springs. The Bright Silver Advan RS-D are a 19 inch staggard fitment and the H&R springs lower the car about 1.2 inches. In addition, he also equipped his car with some Pagid pads for better braking on those high speed straight aways. Check out all our BMW Performance Racing Products Here.

Thanks Dan. It's always a pleasure doing business with you and Jon at Vivid.

I should point out that those pictures were taken before the springs were installed and the car definitely looks better now with the reduced gaps. I need to take some pics and update the thread...

In case anyone is interested I did weigh a stock front wheel and a front Advan for comparison. The Advan rims are a 1/2 inch wider than stock and were wearing 20mm wider rubber for the weigh-in (275/35-19 PS2 versus 255/40-19 Conti) but the combo still came up 4 lbs lighter which was impressive.

See crappy phone pics from the dimly lit garage.

Here's another picture from the track before wheels and springs:

Take into account that according to the Tire Rack, the PS2 is 2 lbs. lighter than the Conti2.
Do you know the actual wieghts of the Advan wheels?

Unfortunately I was not blessed with the forethought to weigh the wheels before I had the tires mounted so I do not know their exact weights. If the 275 PS2s are 2 lbs. lighter than the 255 Contis according to the specs, I am still pleased that the front wheel must be 2 lbs. lighter than stock (assuming the tires match the spec ... also the Contis were worn down FWIW). Especially given that they are a 1/2 inch wider and have what must be a slightly heavier coating.

One cool thing I noticed about the RS-D is that the spokes are hollowed out if look at them from behind, more so as you approach the outer edge of the wheel. For all I know this may be common (I'm not a wheel whore ... yet ... so don't have a lot of experience), but it looked like smart engineering for weight savings while maintaining strength.

Thanks, will do.

By the way, this cracks me up:

'Japan Made' reminds me of 'All your base ...'

Well I'm a crappy photographer using an average point and shoot camera, but here are some shots of the car with the H&R springs installed. You can see the whole gallery here.
