Its a bad a$$ motor. Forced induction is a whole new ball game. You will see a lot of tuners tuning this motor with some serious numbers being put down to the ground. People should be excited about this, not only is there a lot of tune-ability but it also means BMW can meet emissions caps. Its pretty evident that BMW is moving away from NA motors. Sure its bound to make some of the core BMW owners mad but on the flip side a lot of the "younger" generation have waited on the sidelines to see FI come (back) to BMW.
I am inbetween liking and loathing this car...i guess it all depends if bmw copies the cookie cutter nonsense mercedes owners get out of the amg engines or if bmw makes the engine unique with each engine for each ''class'' of M car
so is it gonna be the x6 v8TT, or is it gonna be A special M v8TT?
Same motor as the X6 M I'm sure....

I prefer the twin turbo V8 to an N/A V10. Sure the V10 is sick and a lot more rare than a V8, but the TT V8 will have over 100 more ft-lbs of torque and probably about 50 more hp. Plus all of the power will come nearly instantly at low rpms. I think this is a win-win situation. If it gets better gas mileage, then all the better. I do agree the loss of a high revving engine is a little sad, but you exchange a little of the great sound for a lot more power.
2012 model - 2 years is what my rep told me today.
Same 4.4 TT engine as the ///X5 and ///X6
