Hey I kinda agree on the v10 v.s. blown v8, but for a DD it depends on what type of person you are, because they are two whole different cars, German v.s. American. So which ever one you choose make sure you enjoy it.

I went from a SC V8 in the E55 to my M6 with the V10. And i have driven the new caddy...
The caddy is a ripper no question but at then end of the day...its a caddy. I bought the M because it has the comforts of a BMW and the power of hulk. Sure the gas sucks, it really sucks, but the car always excites me to look at and to get into. I have a feeling that if you went M you would not look back, but if you went caddy you would always wonder...just my .02
Have you thought about a M6? the carbon fiber roof alone sold me I assume you need 4 doors?
Nick

I'm probably one of the few here that actually prefers the 2nd Gen CTS-V to the current M5. I do agree that there should be a little less shiney stuff on the interior but overall I think GM did a great job. I honestly have never thought the M5's interior had any 'wow' factor for a $100k car...kinda bland.
As far as the NA V10 vs S/C'd V8 argument I, again, have to say I prefer the Caddy's approach. GM's LSx series motors are bulletproof and far more flexible than the Bimmer's V10. The fact that it comes already set up for FI makes it very attactive from a tuner's perspective. $1500 in the form of a new pulley and tune nets you almost 100 extra ponies.
If you're on the fence then maybe you should wait for the next gen M5 with the blown motor. Assuming money is not an issue then I think you'll have a monster with huge potential on your hands!
Need a 4 door. Looking for something comfortable but fun to drive. We already have a stock Z06 and a track Z06. So I am covered in the power and road carving department.
I am truely open minded at this point. I am going to test drive both and go with the one that we like the best.

You must be joking right? Your going to try and use the blown motor vs n/a??? Just in case you havent noticed, the m5 has a V10, not a V8. So I am pretty sure their about even on how they got their power. I would personally rather have a supercharger then a huge V10.
Get the Cadillac, its a great car, and it seriously is fun to drive. You will also feel better you spent less, for more for a daily driver.
What the "F" are you talking about.
You say you prefer a blown caddy over a "hugh" V10. Well bucky displacement is the name of the game. What is the displacement of the caddy? Screw the # of cylinders.
If you don't get it, comparing FI vs. NA is not normally fair.
btw I'm not kidding. When the M5 gets FI (either TT or SC'er) it will CRUSH that POS old man geriatric caddy CTS-V. That's a perfect car for my 85 y/o father.
As I said before, I'd NEVER buy a gov't motors car on shear principle.
Fuk Obama!!!

Yea man, whether your wrong or right ranger, calm down. In all honesty I see you on here all the time, you of all people should know that these are open opinions and your opinion isnt always right or wrong, so relax a bit. Some like forced induction from factory and some like n/a.

Once you start getting over 500hp in a RWD car you really start to see diminishing returns on a road course unless it has some long straights like the 'Ring. The new M5 will undoubtedly be faster but it will not "crush" anything. Unless, of course, it is a magic car that is able to overcome the laws of physics. You can only make 4000 lbs of car go around a corner so fast b/f the deciding factor is tire compound.
BTW, sounds like your 85 y/o father likes faster cars than you
It all comes down to whats important to you. Sound, Power, reliability, what ?????? You could spend another 1-2k on the caddy and it will make an easy 650hp....Thats really not to much on a 4000 lb car. I like the older m5's( its a v8 thing)

I will even grant you your 650 hp with "$1-2K mods" yeah right.
As Nike says, just do it! Lets see your caddy run a 10.57 sec pass and 130 trap. DO IT!
Stop theoretically talking about it and DO IT. Lets see your 650 plus hp caddy run mid 10's.
To the physicist here talking about what's not possible well this was a 4200 lbs sled running 10's. Many modded 997 TT's are not running mid 10's.
Show me a caddy with all the bolt-ons you want run mid 10's. Short of a built motor come on do it.
We did it here in So. Florida with our M5.
And again to all the comments about purchase price. You can buy a used excellent M5 for $48K. Cheaper than the CTS-V then mod away.
In contrast I would NEVER buy a used GM POS caddy.
So okay I give up. Our slow M5's down here in So. Florida do not stand a chance against GM (gov't or geriatric motors) caddy.
Oh and the M5 has a "big V10" what 5 liters. Whats the caddy's displacement? If the M5 was a 7 or 8 L V10 then I'd say okay you're right it's fair to compare against a SC'er V8 caddy.
Let me give you an example. How would the CTS-V compare against a 7L V8 Z06 or and ACR Viper(8.3L NA motor)? The caddy would be killed.
Oh notice that on the video the M5 ran a Viper and beat it.
Wait until the S85 (V10) motor of the M5/M6 gets FI done. (it's coming baby) We will make it more than fair.
Very sorry but some of you guys just do not get it.
I only want to seek and achieve the truth. You want a caddy well knock yourself out. I'll keep my M5 for years and your caddy will be a $h!t box in 2 to 3 years.

1) how $$$$ in that m5?
2) If you stuck that kinda cash in a cts-v it would run in the 9's.
3) sounds like chit. / nothing sounds better than a v8.
4) buy the way, awsome 60' time. I have seen vipers in high tens w/a GOOD drver. My little 550hp cobra(superformance) ran a 10.25 w/slicks.
The bimmer is a beautiful car but for the $$$ a cts-v aint to shabby.
Kinda like using a slightly moded z06 that will keep up w/ most any 200k euro cars.

Jesus have you read anything I've written. 200K car please! One of my M5's I picked up used with 8,900 miles, Brembos, exhaust, software, wheels for 52K. Lets see a 3 year old caddy ... crap.
The M5 on the video had 9K in mods but come lets see a caddy do mid 10's.
V8 or V10 whatever you like. Displacement is similar but I prefer the high revving screaming engine.
Oh Flash68 so whats the issue, are you a San Fran liberal (Pelosi country)??
