That matchup has been beaten to death for the last 2-3 years. The Z is a remarkable car, but defeating a 500 hp 4000 lbs sedan in a straight line with a 500 hp 3200 lbs coupe doesn't take an astrophysicist to figure out.

Still waiting on a definitive answer of the E55 vs. M5 battle... Can't seem to find a straight response on this via video, etc.

Okay that was fair?
As was said, a 4000 plus lb 4dr sedan against a more aerodynamic coupe with 3200 lbs. and both with 500 bhp, the outcome no surprise.

Now outcomes can be different though .
Here I am in my M5 (bolt ons and joy juice) against a C6 Z06 (modded 530 rwhp). We ran 60 to 175 mph.

Z06's have a monster 1st gear to start with in a rolling start at 30 mph. So you need to get them out of 1st gear by beginning the run at 60 - 65 mph.

Regardless the Z06 is a wicked tough car.

And you never will. It's the annoying debate that will NEVER find a resolution.

The Z06's have shyte 5th/6th gear ratios.

Your M5's a beast.

Basically after 160, the Vette's performance drops vs many other similarly powered cars. Not a lot keeps up with them through 4th however

1st- 62
2nd- 87
3rd- 125
4th- 162
5th- 223 mathematical maximum (198 drag limited)

Thankfully (in my experience) not many '60 to' races go to 175.

Forget about going on the "juice" but I've never lost to an E55 in my local encounters. Also at the dragstrip have never lost against a CLS63.
Here's a video but I don't know because my straightline results have been different.

The E55 is a torque monster but at top end the M5 prevails.

Have you seen the M5Board runs of the 997S with PDK & direct fuel inject(380 bhp) beating the pants off an E55? I'll try to find it.

HIRISC the M5 under the infleunce of the "juice" is awesome. With a direct port nitrous system the M5 has run a 10.57 sec 1/4 mile pass with a 130 mph trap. That's using Mickey Thompson DR's.
This car is no longer running. ASR is finishing the TT engine build S85 of my M5.

M5 100%

I've raced numerous AMG's in my M6, E55, E63, CLS55, CLS63, SL55, SL63, none of them can hang. I've raced several from a dig as well. The M5 is just a tad slower then the M6...

The 55's pared with the 5-speed autos die above 100mph from my experience. To 100 I already have a significant lead, after that the difference just keeps growing. The 7 speed E63 didn't fare much better either tho.

I'm not an AMG hater, I had an SL55, just speaking the facts I've observed.
