The Cayman S "Competition" IPD Plenum & 82mm TB

Greetings 6 Speeders,

If you are looking for the ultimate Cayman S Intake Plenum and Throttle Body package available anywhere then you may be interested in the latest development from IPD and RSS. This brand new system is for you Cayman S owners who are looking for even more power across the entire curve than already provided by the standard IPD plenum. This system was developed and tested this week and will soon be ready for purchase. Remember, these gains are without ANY software mods. I’m sure with software the intake will be optimized and additional gains will be even further realized. The new IPD / RSS intake system utilizes a modified version of our existing Cayman S plenum which is machined and port matched to a genuine 997 GT3 factory Throttle body, which is a true 82mm. This “Competition Cayman Package” will be available in June along with specifically tuned software currently under development. Please stay tuned for more details on pricing and availability. Sorry for not hyping this new and improve IPD / RSS intake system, but we’ve been way too busy developing and selling product. I hope you all enjoy and appreciate the dyno graphs below.

So how much of the gains are due to the Borla system and UD pulley

Also FYI the runs are carried out with significant differences in temperature and humidity so are not a good comparison.

Yea...very disappointing to say the least. I just read over on CaymanClub about the addition of the Borla and UD pulley. I was hoping the gains were just from the plenum and throttle body. sucks.
As far as temperature and humidity differences.....its tough to have identical conditions when dynoing, then adding mods, and dynoing again.

Cayman S "competition" Response

Wow Nick! Thanks for the great vote of confidence.

We tried to get an appointment to rent out Weissach for the day to conduct precise performance gain evaluations but they were booked, go figure. Isn't the point to share the data that we have found? I'll remember to book the temperature and humidity controlled dyno room with rolling floor at McLaren next time we need to test one of our $995 IPD plenums. Wait, maybe I should delete the environment stats from the shared dyno graph all together. Or maybe we should compare our dyno graph to the competitions dyno graph. Oh wait, that's right, they didn't offer any dyno specs, only hype.

Nick, I think you're missing the point but thanks for sharing your "unbiased" opinion.

Cheers,Greg

And your opinion wouldn't be biased either would it .... at least I am not a product producer posting on a competitors thread!

OK, Greg how about answering the question you have avoided so far on another board?

Quote:

The Borla system has been shown to deliver 18.5 rwhp. An underdrive pulley has been shown to deliver 5 rwhp. Your total gain is 35.1 hp. So I guess we can assume that your Plenum and Throttle body are responsible for 11.6 rwhp. (35.1 gain - 18.5 Borla - 5 UDP = 11.6 for Plenum & TB)

Isn't the Plenum alone supposed to deliver 23.8?

I have 4 Fellow Club Members all with 2.7 Liters that really want a Plenum.Gary ,do you have a possible Timeframe for a Plenun being developed for the 2.5 and 2.7 ? I have heard the Part is the Same as the 3.4 Liter But would only require Different Mapping . Is that correct ? Thanks

I think you have to buy something from sombody before you are considered a customer.

The funny bit is that while there were significant temp and humidity differences on the dyno graphs, and they will effect the numbers, the temps were significantly higher for the runs with the plenum which would have made less power. All things being equal we probably would have seen more gains, even with the drop in humidity, which is less significant.

Thanks for sharing all the info and developing new products for us. I look forward to the release. Don't let the haters get you down.

I do not have a time frame at all, I just know the shops making the plenums know that the 2.5/2.7 owners want them also.
