Opinion: S5 or Cayman S?
Should I keep my modded Cayman S or get a new S5?
S5 is more "practical" but it would be tough to get rid of the Cayman... |

Went from S4 to the CS. Drove the S5 also, but to similar to the S4...however, I loved it. Just a completely different beast than the CS and I just wanted a Porsche at this point in my life.

I drove a new M3 last week, along with a Cayman S. Totally different cars. If a backseat and trunk are needed, the M3 is certainly a great car, but it does not offer the same feel or overall driving experience of the Cayman. I'm thinking of replacing my C6 ZO6 this fall, and I believe I could be very happy with the Cayman, after adjusting for the difference in power. But I would not be happy with the M3.

Cayman S...there are few cars that can provide as much fun as a cayman, and all of them are more expensive. i dont think theres any car within 10K of its price range that is as much fun and as much of a pure driving experience.

I drove the S5 on the Homestead Miami Raceway (1/2 oval + in-field). The S5's Interior is 1st class and exterior design looks great as as well. On the track... it felt a little weighed on tight turns (it is a longer/roomier car afterall. The V8 is silky smooth to redline and had no problem getting up to speed. The car stops well with its bigger brakes.
Personally, I don't think any of us can get anywhere close to the performance limits of the S5 (or other similar cars mentioned above) on the streets - not legally anyways. IMO, the S5 is a great GT car for the following reasons: 1) travels effortlessly from point A to B, regardless if it's on the freeway or HWY1, 2) brings great presence without drawing unnecessary attention, and 3) rewards the driver with fun driving experience and passenger with refinements and amenities. If that's what you are looking for, you can't go wrong with the S5. Just my 2 cents.

To me the S5 was a disappointment. I spent a health amount of time behind the wheel of the S5 and was finished with it after 40 minutes. The car was not very inspiring and left me wanting. I recommend sticking with the CS and never look back!

I love to hate Audis. I finally got rid of my A4 for a 335 BMW. Both cars are great but the reliability of my A4 as well as many friends have been subpar at best. The 335 is a blast to drive but I don't feel alive in it even with its 300 HP. Hop into my underpowered Porsche and I am grinning ear to ear....

I have a 1998 Audi A4 with 140k miles (including ~20+ days of DE at Mt. Trembalant, The Glen, Lime Rock and Homestead Miami). Aside from standard maintenance stuff, my car's reliability has been rock solid... as with many of my friend's Audi's: A3 to A8s. All that I'm saying is... buying a solid/reliable car is like rolling the dice - doesn't matter if it's Audi, BMW, Porsche, Honda or Toyota.
