Squealing Brakes

Recently my '03 S was due for a new set of front/rear rotors, brake pads, and sensors. I had done the job myself and have had no issues in the past when replacing everything on my '99. Within the first few days I heard my brakes squeal and I assumed they were in the process of being broken in. A few days had gone by and the noise was still present, so I took the vehicle to my certified Porsche specialist, and he proceeded onto conducting a few 100-0 mph/40-0 mph stops and the noise had ceased for the time being. This occured this past Thursday and the noise is still present. If any of you have had similar brake discrepancies in the past or have any idea as to my current problem I am more than willing to listen. All input is greatly appreciated.

Pop out the pads and use a file or grinder to bevel down the sharp edges on the heal and toe of the pad (the gray area in the pics below). You don’t even need to unhook the wear sensors. the sharp edges of the pads are what are causing the vibrations/noise. I guarantee this will fix it. I don’t know why Porsche insists on putting the sharp edge of the pad all the way out to edges, maybe they don’t want to sacrifice the extra pad area. make sure not to touch the pad surface while working and to give them a quick shot of brake clean just before reinstallation.

I had the same problem when I installed Pagid brake pads on my 01. The fronts never squealed, but my rears squealed so much it drove me crazy, so I installed these anti-squeal brake pad liners, and it did the trick. You have to pull the pad out, and stick them to the BACK of the pad's backing plate. No more squealing brakes for me.

I have done this on numerous cars to take care of squealing issues. It works!

Thank you all for your replies. I had no luck finding the anti-squeal pads locally. Come Thursday I am taking the pads and beveling them down with a file. Hopefully, the squeal will be eliminated and I will update you once I am done.

Yup to make sure your covered i would remove the pads, chamfer the edges, apply BG stop squeak to the pads and break them in properly and you should be set.
