Sounds like you got your head straight. "Well balanced" tends to be a marketing euphemism for slow. Don't get me wrong, they're fun to drive in the have-to-wring-its-neck sort of way. The interior and reliability will be nowhere near your Cayman.

brutal gas mileage on these believe it or not ... and require a lot of attention to keep them running up to par

it may look good, but I still would not compare it to even the base Cayman

Honestly porsche interiors don't do it for me. I think if you can live without the torque the R3 would be very entertaining. The Recaros feel fantastic and the car looks fresh and clean with the new bodykit.

Mileage would be abysmal compared with the Porsche however.

a set of GT3 seat would complete the desire
and couple of carbon fiber upgrade would fulfill
your taste of the interior!! and as for the body...
there is a lot of options!!

agreed. not just in terms of brand prestige, but the raw enjoyment; i have read the way you write about your car, no way you could change it for that.

+1

The RX8 has a good chassis (but not as good as the Cayman), but the awful fuel economy combined with a torqueless engine would be a deal breaker for me. A C6 is like a hybrid compared to the fuel mileage of an RX8.

i know they are driver's cars and amazing, don't get me wrong. but there is some what to be given to such categories as aesthetics, interior, tech, etc. though i agree, in a sports car these are not deciding factors.
however, the vast majority of Porsche owners i know, are far from ppl that enjoy to drive or even drive stick...so the original poster's argument to me holds some validity unto itself ( s204speed about the interior).
i just dont like when ppl post that porsches are only about the drive and they are bought for no other reason, or such posts. im not venting, but it is hardly always the case.

^If the interior is such a determining factor, then just get an Audi.

Or if you got money, an Aston Martin.

Because the original comment sounded exactly like someone who's complaining about gas mileage on their Ferrari - finding something to complain about.

Welll the Interior of The R3 is quite nicer to say the truth but negative factors on the R3 are 1.VERY horrible gas milage 2.Reliability ? 3.Tourque -no comparison 4.The Cayman has better lines and german engineering 5.Cayman is less maintenence 6.My Cayman handels BETTER!! ( I owned an 04 RX-8) NEED I GO ON? NIQUI, your comment says it all and I thank you for preventing me from being STUPID .I love my car with Passion .I Turned The Key on my cayman today with the Remus Exhaust and thought ,WOW !! driving does not get any better then this still taking the LONG way home ..
