997 GT3 Wheels on Cayman (help!)

Ok, so lately i have seen two Cayman S's just like mine with 997 GT3 wheels on them and i want these badly. I was told before that it "doesnt work" and blah blah blah.

Can someone help me out here? What modifications are needed to the car/wheel to make it work?

Thank you.

GT3 wheels + spacers? Hmmm...i thought that would be WAY too wide? But yea, see what you can find out and let me know. They would look great with my GT3 front end conversion

Why is that?

Why is that?
most likely has to do with negative camber on the alignment. stock only gives you so much flexability while coilovers with camber plates will really allow you to dial in large amounts of negative camber.

So are 997 GT3 wheels all 12 inches wide or just the GT3 RS wheels?

Mikke's car looks like it's stretching tire a little, and running a lot of negative camber to get that perfect flush fitment. I love the stance from the rear, but I really need my tires to last long since it's a daily driver, and massive amounts of negative camber would negate it.

Its easy enough to calculate. What are the sizes and offsets of your current wheels, and what are the sizes and offsets of the gt3 wheels ? If you can get me this info I am sure that I can calculate it for you.

Johnny
p.s. What's all the fuss about these gt3 wheels ? They must be one of the heaviest cast wheels you could possibly put on your vehicle. With so many light weight, strong forged wheels out there why those donkeys ? The goal to enhancing performance when it comes to wheel applications is to reduce unsprung rotational mass, not add to it ! Check out this Champion RS98 one piece forged wheel.

I hear ya on the Champions. And i am not sold 100% on the GT3 wheels....but i will say that LOTS of peeps throw those champion wheels on their caymans...and the GT3 wheels would go NICELY with my GT3 front end conversion. Would love it if they were black with a silver lip tho!!

Champion offers custom colors along with a polished lip on most of their wheels. Mine just happen to be all black.

Automotion has 18" GT3 replicas for just over $900 for 8.5" and 10" widths. Those should fit with no problems.

19" RS98s weigh in at 19lb, 3oz front and 20lb, 4oz rear; pretty light. For the money, I sure like OZs; those Allegeritas (sp?) are pretty darn nice and one-piece forged, less than $2k/set.... hmmm, I almost went that way, but went way of those peeps instead with Champs (18" RG5s are still pretty light, almost the same as the 19" RS98s). I don't believe OZ does polished lips though.

Sounds like the man has his mind set on those GT3 Wheels.

Even if they are way wider then his stockers.
