New soon to be Boxster owner

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. Im in the process of searching for my first porsche. I have my eye on an 05 Boxster S, since it fits my budget and fills my needs as a convertible sports car.

Are there any first mods that anyone recommends like short shifter kit? Im coming from an 06 honda s2000 and it had excellent shifting feel.

Is there anyone out there that has first hand experience on the 2 cars?

Thanks,

The '05 is a great car, enjoy it! I have never been a fan of SSKs as I feel they are too notchy but that is just me.

Congrats and be sure to post up some pictures when you finally settle on something. For me, first mod would have to be exhaust... There's a slight trade-off with a little bit of cabin drone being a mid-engine cab but its completely worth it in my opinion. Makes the car sound how it should from the factory. After that a set of PSS10's and you're set.

Happy motoring.

are the exhaust systems for this car easy to DIY? im a hands on type person, i feel it helps me learn the most i can about my vehicle when i do most of the work myself.

im also wondering about going FI route at 100,000 miles. maybe supercharger kit. what do you think?

I have experience with both, I've owned 3 S2000's. I loved the digital gauge cluster from the s2k a lot more than the porsche gauges, and I also like how much cheaper the s2k is to upkeep but other than that I really like the boxster a lot more, especially how much quieter the cabin is

you should read the reviews on the 05 vs i think 07 as i believe that was the year they put the Cayman tranny in the boxster S. they are all compliments.

i just put a short shifter in mine and i love the throw reduction - would never go back and i do not find it rough when cold
