Arrow Preelude's 2006 Boxster Build Thread | Wheels, Exhaust, Suspension | Photos + Videos

Hi guys, I just picked up my first Porsche! It is a 2006 Boxster Base 5-Speed with 57,000 km's (35,000 miles).

I am coming over from the BMW world, my last toy was a 2008 M3 Sedan 6-Speed in Jerez Black on Fox Red.

I am very happy with the purchase so far, and cannot wait to get started with the process of bringing the car back to showroom condition and some light modifications.

THE PLAN:

- Full detail
- Change fluids
- Replace front & rear brakes (rotors, pads, sensors)
- Paint calipers yellow
- H&R Sport springs
- 19" Wheels (Niche M131 Targa)
- Custom exhaust system

I will be installing the brakes as soon as I receive the rear rotors, all the other brake parts have arrived. I will also paint the calipers yellow at that time (primer, paint, clear) + high temp black "Porsche" stickers.

The rear 15mm spacers, Porsche center caps & high temp caliper stickers have also arrived!

Pretty darn awesome....

Great looking car, especially for it being 10 years old. Good mileage - not especially high and not a complete garage queen. These cars need to be driven (unlike my 2016 GTS that I have had for 5+ months and barely have 600 miles on it ). Is the color GT silver? It will be interesting to see how your exhaust works out. Several aftermarket exhausts have problems with a droning noise at around 3K RPM. I had a Porsche Sport Exhaust on my 2002S which was much better than stock and did not have the droning problem. How much will your new springs lower the car?

Your M3 looks pretty sweet too. It will be hard for a base Boxster to match performance - at least in a straight line. Should blow it away in the curves.

Thank you. I believe the color is Arctic Silver Metallic. I have past experience with Vibrant, the exhaust should sound good and keep drone under control, I will post videos and photos when it is complete. The springs are suppose to lower the car 1.4" front and 1.2" rear, will post photos of the results as well.

Performance wise the M3 destroyed the Boxster even an "S", that being said I find the power adequate and I am still enjoying the Porsche more! Much funner car to drive, and nothing beats the small roadster feel.

As the saying goes, it is much more fun to drive a slow car fast than driving a fast car fast. All the Boxsters are way fun on the twisties.

Arrow Niche M131 Wheels | H&R Sport Springs | Custom Exhaust | New Brakes + Yellow Calipers

Got the car back from the shop today. Oil change, new brakes front & rear, caliper paint, lowering springs, wheels, and exhaust are done! I will try to get proper photos and make a video of the new exhaust this weekend. In the meantime here are some phone pics of the results:

Went out and took some proper photos today, I still have to put the Porsche stickers back on the calipers and the car should be almost complete!

Exhaust sounds terrific. Like the new wheels too - never was a big fan of the lobster claw wheels.

Thank you!

I will try to make a better video in the coming weeks. I also have 25mm spacers incoming for the rear to replace the 15mm, so I will take some more photos then...

First, I have to say you have a great looking car, preelude. One of the best I've seen.

Second, I'm new to the idea of spacers. I'm guessing that you're using them to increase the rear track of the car, but I'm not sure why Porsche didn't make the track wider if it's such a good idea. Are you compensating for custom wheels that don't have the proper offset, perhaps?
