Can you be more specific about the type of car ? Ok just realized you got a 997 TT. Which area of Montreal are you in?

I know a good shop in Vaudreuil called Euroservice. It is a Volkswagen specialist but I went there and there was a 996 TT 2002 with the engine remove!!!! Very good mechanics in there and the owner Richard love to work on Porsche. He own one and prepare one for racing...

904 Harwood Rte, Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC J7V 8P2
(450) 455-8689

Are you able to do some work on your car? I just installed a Kline on my TT and it is not too difficult to do?

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I'll check them out.
I'd do it myself but need a lift or jack stands. I was thinking about JackPoint jack stands. Expensive but after a couple of oil changes they would pay for themselves. I'm not sure if I would have enough clearance for the jack in my garage, it would need to be used somewhat sideways since I only have about 2-3 feet around the car. I would need a jack with a foot lever. Haven't found any that are low profile though.

I've done lots of work on cars in my life, brakes, timing chains, front springs so I have the aptitude.
I only worry about the 4 bolts on each side connecting the cats to the turbos. In particular, if one breaks!

I got a modest garage , very small but efficient with a Maxjax. If you are able to use your hand may be you and me can do the job. You are welcome to my place . I live besides the tunnel Louis Hyppolite Lafontaine in the east end. Send me a PM and I will give you the exact information.

Hi thanks for the offer. I did try to remove one bolt so far with very little luck(997 TT forum). Are you equipped to deal with broken or seized bolts? At our age, maybe we don't need the headaches? Lol.
In any case I am still thinking about doing it myself, but will decide later in the next day or so.
Thanks much for the offer.
Tom

Oups you discover I was an old man But no fun without a bit of challenge In the aviation we use "Mouse Milk" for stubborn nuts and bolts and I do have some. I also got reasonable (I can see my wife laughing) amount of tools for any mechanical job. But you have to understand , my garage is just beside the house. If I break something I just close the door and call it quit for the day. Order the parts and start another day. In a case like yours I would like to start and finish within a day! And sometimes it can be frustrating...But I have to admit I did not have too much problem with my exhaust because I took my engine out two years ago and reinstalled every single nuts and bolts with anti seized grease. We can also have problem with the O2 sensors. But a shop can also have the same problem but will charge you for new ones from the dealers. But in our case we can order oem ones from cheaper place…

Don't feel bad because you have to take your car to a shop. But don't be shy if you still want to try it at my place. My garage is open , I got next week off, and I am open for a challenge and meet a new Porsche friend! I'm french canadian but can have a technical conversation in english

You stop by Prestige and ask for some nuts (8), I think part#999 084 203 01 and some turbo stud (8) 999-084-052-02, these are the only ones that can go wrong on exhaust removal….You won't believe me but I got 12 studs and 8 nuts in stock!!! Yes I do have some parts :roll eyes:

One last thing about Kline exhaust. The sound is amazing!!!!

Hi
Yes saw your age earlier and I'm 2 years younger.
I could see something breaking or similar and have to deal with travelling back and forth across the island for a couple of days, lol.
The dealer quoted me 3.5 to 4 hours labor plus I get a loaner, probably worth it for all the potential headaches.
But I still would like to drop by one of these days, meet you and check out your shop. Maybe some day next week?

No problem Tom. 3.5 to 4 hours represent about $400 to $500 dollars! But of course there is always some unknown factors. You are welcome anytime to see my humble installation. Would like to meet you and hear the sound of your new exhaust and may be have a ride in a 997 Good luck, J.P.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but VAG motorsports should easily be able to help you with your exhaust issues. They build GT3 cup cars and maintain a decent amount of porsche race cars.
