Bought a US car? Forget about taking it back to the US

Long story...

Bought a new XKR in 2006 for Florida house,

Imported it in 2008 ( riv, lights duty etc)

Made a Deal on an 11 XJ in Florida, they take the XKR on trade, I have to send it back to Naples form Winnipeg as soon as reasonably possible.

WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!

1st, I have to pay US duty on it even though it was paid when the car arrived new. ( n/a on NAFTA cars)

I'm having a friend trailer the cars, he needs to apply for a transport certificate in order to do the favor for me.

I need an EPA and DOT compliance Letter from Jaguar (even though the car is from the US)

I need to put up a bond three times the value of the car to ensure that all is in order

I have to have all of the documents pre-approved by the border crossing. If We try to cross with out prior approval we will be fined $5000.

so if you buy a US be prepared to Jump through some major hoops if you plan on trading it or selling it in the US.

sell it in Canada?

Wouldn't it be much easier and perhaps even more cost effective to just sell the 06 XKR in Canada, and thereby avoiding everything you described above?
All the steps such as different paperwork, 3xValue Bond, trailer car to FLA and more...

Yes.

I presumed, stupid me, that because I still had the florida title it was just a matter of taking it back to Florida. I have already made the deal and taken delivery of the '11 ( 2 weeks ago)

Not the case.
