This just pisses me off, and this is why anyone with a nice car is given such a tough time..
Sad to say I went to the high school mentioned, and ashamed to say one of the kids is family.

The fine amount simply reflects the fact that the police did not actually see anyone speeding, they were acting on third party phone calls, which would not hold water in any court room anywhere. Unfortunately these latest motor vehicle laws seem to dismiss the importance of the rule of law.

Good luck, I'd be VERY suprised if that happened, the cars aren't even in the kids names, how can the just take a car from a registered ownerr cause somebody borrowed it and went speeding?

Under BC law the registered owner of a vehicle is totally responsible also for any acts of any given driver! Therefore unless the vehicle is stolen the owner can be just as responsible as the driver. If the owner wants to say it was stolen then unless he does the criminal charge thing against the driver he can't say it was stolen.
It's been done before in BC with a Ferrari. There they did pay part of the sales proceeds to a parent but only part to cover the parent's bank loan for partial financing of the car.
If there is a large lien/leaseholder they have from time to time reimibursed the leasing company what's coming to them though.
Our government is set on stopping street racing at any cost to the street racer. The definition of street racing is pretty broad.
