2009 Turbo S or 2011 Bmw X5M
My daily driver remains the blastfully fun 997TTS
However,i need to replace my second car(2001 Audi S6)
Naturally I am leaning towards the pepper, but cant forget my early driving years in a 735i...
Any and all comments will be much appreciated

Based on the shopping I did when I got my 2011 CTT, I'd get the X5M...the pre-2011 Cayenne interior leaves a bit to be desired, IMHO. Plus the X5M is a nice riding SUV, with crazy power/torque.

for me it's about fit and finish and road handling, not just straight line.
Both are great, but I had this same puzzlement when I was looking... I now have a 2011 CTT in build phase now.
delivery in february.
If price is a factor, you get what you pay for, but with that said, the loaded x5M is $95K, my loaded CTT is $138k with ceramics, $8K less without.
X5M cant really be customized, granted you can opt for packages or not, but the customization Porsche offers is superior.

2011 X5M FTW; although, I believe Porsche is superior in quality and prestige. IMO the X5M looks better than the Gen I Cayenne, GTS front excluded. Yester years advancements vs. newer tech, stop and go, faster, bigger and badder -- all in favor of the 2011 X5M. This road sounds familiar, oh yeah, because I've been down it before.
Good luck with the decision.

Thanks for the replies
I would be getting the pepper second hand with low mileage
The X5 would be new
Pricing is pretty close
I had an 09TT(-pdcc)and had much fun with it,especially driving cross country
I have had a good time in the past driving various bimmers and just am curious to experience what their X5M has to offer
Guess i will go for a test drive and take it from there...

If you want something to go fast on good roads then its the X5m for sure. Also the new car warranty is a big factor since from my experience with high end BMWs they are in the shop a lot. Also there is the factor that there is 1,000,000+ X5's on the road and you will look just like one to anyone not a bmw fanboy.
If you have bad roads or want to drive off road then i would go with the Cayenne. I use my cayenne TT to pull the dirt bikes and my boat. The cayenne is the swiss army knife of SUV's, it does everything a SUV is suppose to do and does them well. The x5m is a one trick pony much like the much like less expensive Jeep SRT8.
I would just go drive both and get the one you like best, they are very close in performance on a paved road. Off road the Cayenne wipes its *** wit the X5m, the X5m would find a grassy hill a challenge.
I know i get more people that walk up to my blacked out CTT than i did with my custom BMW M6 that was on the cover of two calenders. I know some don't like the interior of the cayenne but IMO a loaded CTT or CTTS have great interiors. Also my experience with BMW service department leaves a lot to be desired. If i was lucky to get a loaner it was a turd. At Porsche when i got my brakes done i got a new Pano and in the past i got a 911.

The acceleration figures for the 09 TTS cayenne and the BMW X5M are very similar, about 4 seconds to 60 and high 12's in the quarter. My Cayenne 09 TTS has been a great car with minimal issues, love the build quality and looks. I'm sure you could get a left over or minimally used one for the same if not less than a new xm5.

I would strongly encourage you to test drive a 2011 Cayenne S (which I am assuming is at your price range). If you take $$$ out of the equation, I cannot think of any reason why one would not want to go for the Cayenne S over any other SUV in the market....Really. Go compare it head to head. The intangibles with PORSCHE are just too many to elaborate. I had no Porsches 12 months ago. This Jan 2011, I will have three. Does that tell you something ?

Thanks again for the replies and the suggestions
90K is at the max of what i want to spend
I would prefer to spend less,of course
The S is an interesting idea,however..I've grown addicted to the rush of turbo boost...there is no going back to a NA ride for me
Perhaps a less costly alternative would be to get an 08 Turbo with PDCC....

Unless you are looking at '11 Cayenne I would recommend an X5M. For value and fun delivery its a winner and while the X5 is common place the X5M is rare. I love that new car smell!
