I will take a stab at this, I think like the other 51 folks this is a little confusing - and it has been years since I have burned a CD, but you are correct to use the uncompressed WAV version, sounds like you already tried that though. Have you tested the CD in another vehicle that is not MP3 compatible? I know that with some of the software I have used there is a "finishing" component to burning the files onto the CD. Are you trying to use a combo of MP3, MP4 and WAV or all one type of file?

I played a WAV burned CD on my way to work this morning - I have PCM 2.1 on my 2006 though, but I do not think this version of the PCM is anymore compatible than a 2004 would be. In effect you are still trying to process uncompressed music with WAV so it should would just like a CD you purchased from the store.

My guess would be to burn it as a regular audio cd

Are you trying to play them through the In-Dash CD player or the CD Changer.

I've heard but have not confirmed that some burned CD's play fine in the in-dash player but that hte CD changer is finnicky and they may not work.

you MUST burn the disc as an audio CD. Your PCM is not capable of playing anything else. 2006+ units support MP3. This has been covered in a bunch of other posts on renntech, etc. so I am pretty comfortable telling to stop making coasters

As already suggested, make an audio CD. I use iTunes uncompressed to a standard CD-R and it plays in both the dash and changer no problems. Good luck. FWIW, occasionally a higher bit rate CD won't play, not SACD or DVD-Audio, but 20-24 bit CDs.

you're burning a data CD with .wav, .mp3. whatever. you need to burn an AUDIO CD. the burning software will convert your .wav (or .mp3 or whatever - depends on software) into CDDA data which is audio CD data (what you find when buying a CD from the store).

2006+ Cayennes support MP3 files ONLY IF you use the Single CD deck. CD Changer is still audio cd only. It's time to sell <2006 Cayennes guys..
