Thinking about buying a Cayenne...
Hey everyone!
I just found this forum and have been reading threads for the past couple of hours. I am thinking about picking up a used Cayenne sometime this month.
I actually found one that i really like but the problem is it is not an S or Turbo. It is just a 2006 Cayenne. It has 40k miles on it and only one previous owner. The truck looks mint but at the same time i am hesitant because i feel it will be underpowered. What would you guys suggest? Should i pull the trigger or wait it out until i find a better model? Is there any way to get more power out of the V6 or make it more enjoyable to drive?
Also, i plan on bringing a truck from the US to Canada so if anyone has insight into this process that would be amazing.
Thanks guys!

I recently bought an 05 S. 38k miles. Paid $23,299 +taxes/reg fees.
It will need tires this year, there are a few small scratches on paint, will need coolant tubes, and need to change plugs/coils.
I spent time looking, about 8 weeks for the color combo I wanted, blue/tan.
I would have picked up a 6 cyl. But the least expensive one I found was $17k with 58k miles and it just seemed like a better deal to pay for an S.
Since I never drove a 6 cyl I can't compare the differences, but I love the S.
What is the price?

If I were you i would choose a V8 S. I've heard from multiple users from this site that the V6 engine is not quite as responsive as they would like. But really just keep in mind what are you looking for, does it matter if the engine lacks the oomph to get you going at a considerable pace or not?
It's all about what you want,

I have an '05 V6 and I'm perfectly happy with it. It isn't going to melt the tires off the line, but neither is the 'S'. About the only drawback to the 6 that I've found is that is does more downshifting on hills than I'd like, where an 'S' most likely wouldn't need to downshift as much.
One thing I've found is that if I need a jump off the line, I have to flick the transmission into 'M1' instead of letting it default to 'D2'. That puts a suprising amount of 'oomph' into the launch, considering it's a 4,500+ pound vehicle with a 250hp V6.
One plus to the V6 is that there are fewer problems with the motor and, when there are problems (plugs, coils), there are two fewer cylinders.
Good luck in your search!
