Thoughts...for a possible future owner

Hey everyone. I'm been browsing this board endlessly for the last week or so trying to educate myself on anything and everything that has to be known of the 2008 Cayenne Turbo and I'm definitely exhausted.

I have never owned a Porsche and want a 911 of course, but for reason of family expansion, the Cayenne is the currently the only Porsche that my significant other is willing to "buy" into. I stumbled onto a CPO'd 1-owner '08 Cayenne Turbo w/o PDCC or Panoramic Roof and minus the carbon fiber trims but with what I believe is almost everything else (no sport seats either) and it looks enticing.

I live in SoCal and am in need of any advice. Is it a good buy, etc.? I've read about squeaky / loud brakes but how annoying are they really? Hearing from you guys is definitely better than reading and I know that people have consistently posed these questions but here are a few more: 2011 V6 or 2008 Turbo? Best dealer in SoCal? Best Service / advisor / sales rep? ANy suggestions? TIA

I'd get a 2011. In my opinion it's so much more refined and luxurious than the predecessor.

But if you're into speed.. Then get the CPOed turbo. For a SUV it isn't as important to me.

300 vs 500 horsepower.

The new model year looks so refined (as mentioned above) that the 200 hp difference, suprisingly makes this a tough choice.

I live in San Diego and drive an 05 S and the 340 hp is plenty, however never driven a turbo I can't compare.

I too looked at 911s but with family could not make it work as other car is 4 seater convertible. I am happy with my choice; I love the Cayenne.

@2011PorscheCaye "I'd get a 2011. In my opinion it's so much more refined and luxurious than the predecessor."
The interior is definitely a HUGE imporovement and I've heard that the transmission is a great ride as well. I might test drive one then make the decision. Ya, HP is a big deal and I recognize that in an SUV that it might not be to some, but hey, if there's a Turbo available at the reasonable price, then why not, right? It's insane!

@taddyangle "300 vs 500 horsepower"
it definitely makes a difference even w/ the GTS vs the Turbo. It's ridiculous in terms of acceleration and top speed! Granted, I won't be able to really capitalize on it that much being as I too I live in San Diego. I've only dealt with Pioneer Porsche so far. Should I go elsewhere? Where do you guys go for service?

Drive both. You'll probably choose the turbo. I did. Enjoy!
