How in the world did you get your insurance company to pay a claim on a repair issue? What insurance company is it? The adjuster should get fired for approving it (and may just be when his bosses find out...). I'll be interested to hear if they actually end up paying the money or not.

It sucks to have your Porsche experience ruined by a dealer repair issue. The same exact thing could easily happen in a Lexus or any other vehicle though. I've had bad luck with Porsche dealer service too. The last time I paid for an oil change I pulled the car out of the garage the next morning to find a giant pool of oil on the floor and oil pouring out of the engine. I assumed something failed catastrophically like an RMS/IMS and didn't even check the car over myself but just had it towed to the dealer only to find out they hadn't tightened the drain plug.....

Then again, I've also had a well known aftermarket tuning shop who failed to torque my motor mounts resulting in the engine almost falling out of the car while I was at the track. And they didn't torque the right rear camber alignment bolts either resulting in the car getting frightening handling characteristics and burning through a set of rear tires in only 2k miles.....

Teflon, when there's an issue of this nature, the insurance company's first goal is to make their customer (me) whole. They are pursuing the dealer and their legal teams will have much quicker success than I ever would have with a lawyer of my own.

To everyone else, I have replied to all PMs, please check your inboxes regarding parts. So far the Leistung pipes are gone, and the intakes/BOVs are paid for and shipping out today. Here's a list of the other parts I have left, if I don't get any quick responses I'll be posting in classifieds.

LED tails & tinted side markers (pending sale)
OEM Stabilus hatch struts, new in packaging
Light grey cargo liner
4-6 leftover Ziza lights from the kit I bought & never finished, (free, just pay shipping)
Black tow hitch cover with silver Porsche logo
Clarion sound processor, mint with box
Powerbass 960W 4 channel amp (mids/highs) mint, practically new
JL 8w7
1 gallon OEM Porsche coolant

I ended up buying an '09 GS450h, and yesterday I bought the new project - '67 IH Scout, which I'll be picking up on Wednesday.

Although I'll no longer be a CTT owner, I'll definitely still be lingering on here watching everybody's builds and helping/adding advice where I can.. Best of luck to everyone!

Trying to get more info from my claims specialist, but this is what I've gotten so far for you guys.

"The vehicle will besold through CoPart at Auction so there is no set buyback price. Theywould have to contact CoPart for the selling price at that time but thetitle will have to be received and transferred first so it will take some time."

Also, the Leistung pipes, BOVs, and intakes are gone. All other parts are free game right now, let me know if interested in anything.

Not sure if they sold, but how much for the tail lights?

I cannot send a PM, due to low number of posts

Fwiw, that wouldnt fly in my state. The owner can retain ownership and keep the total minus buy back-they cant just take the title without permission and without a value associated to the salvage prior to handing the totle over . I had a grand cherokee totalled and had the buy back price created based on salvage yard purchase prices. I did buy it back and fix it myself (minus some minor unibody damage that was beneath the bumper and nonvisible and non structural)

Duh,

I only asked her about the buyback for other people who keep asking. Once the car was deemed a total loss, I didn't want it anymore. Way too many electrical issues popped up almost immediately (besides just the radio), rust started forming in the carpets in the floor by all the doors, and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I only inquired about the buyback price for other members on here. I have already been paid for the pre-damaged value of the vehicle and moved on to other vehicles.

Vampyre,

About the taillights, check your inbox.

Ding, Ding. It's his car. He doesn't have to buy it back. If they total it, they can pay him out instead of fixing it - but he owns the car, not the insurance company.

True, it was a shame. I think the insurance company's number one goal was to make me whole on the matter. I was over the max one month on rental insurance, Englewood Porsche wasn't claiming liability for the shotty pano roof install that caused all the problems, there were rust spots just inside all 4 doors on the carpets, there was significant water damage in the hatch that had affected multiple electrical units (Air suspension non-functioning, all the audio, and I believe the AWD light was on in the dash as well), the list goes on. I think that my insurance company just cut their losses and went after Englewood Porsche for the damages.

This went on from September 2013 to late March 2014. In and out of the dealerships, constantly taking it in and getting loaners, constantly being dodged by the NJ dealer, etc.

No sir, sorry. All I have left is the OEM Nav / Amp / CD Changer / spare tire sub, which is for sale.

I do have a gallon of P coolant and 2 or 3 quarts of Mobile1 0W-40 that I'd give to someone in Dallas for free if they wanted to come pick it up.
