2010 gts

Hey guys. Long time lurker, first time poster.

i am looking at picking up a 2010 GTS very soon and wanted to know what exactly I should look out for. What recalls have been issued? Known problems? Anything you would say are must haves? I'm downsizing from a XL Denali.

My list of must haves:
PDCC
PASM
Tow package for hauling my Italians to the track
Back up camera
Panoramic roof, although I've heard these begin to rattle?
Set of winter wheels/tires
I've also heard the stock nav system is not very good, anyone install an aftermarket system?
Last but not least what are some of the first mods people do? Exhaust, intake, ecu tuning...

Thanks for the help!

Thanks Mr. Haney. Never heard of google before.

I have done plenty of googling and thought that I would ask actual owners what their personal experiences were. Isn't that the point of the forum...to share information?

I love Google, you should try it!I I can give you a tip, it's all about key words, and not always the obvious ones. This forum has a search function also. Though I prefer the Google.
of course the forum is for sharing information. I am sharing information with you right now

I have an 09 gts...

[Back up camera] - If it doesn't come stock, can be added after (NavTV.com). I added mine aftermarket, install of components is not too bad, fishing the wires from hatch into car was a PITA.

[Panoramic roof, although I've heard these begin to rattle?] - They creak, I found one creak in mine that I silenced with a piece of felt. When it's cold out I noticed that it's noisier. I rarely open mine, but being able to let more light in the car by rolling the sunshade back is nice.

[Set of winter wheels/tires] - I picked up a set of 18's pre-owned for cheap. You will need a winter set if you plan on driving in snow. The factory 21's are like snowshoes, no traction at all. Would not recommend at all driving in snow on the 21's. There are not many all-season tires out there (I think only 1?) for the 21's. Get a second set, anything 18" or bigger will fit.

[I've also heard the stock nav system is not very good, anyone install an aftermarket system?] -I find it to be fine, every nav system has it's quirks, but no major complaints from my experiences. The PCM is well embedded into the vehicle, but there are many people who have bypassed it with aftermarket stereos. Most everything can be done (steering wheel controls, etc) these days.

[Last but not least what are some of the first mods people do? Exhaust, intake, ecu tuning...]

My mods, pretty much all plug-n-play which is what makes them nice:

TechArt Lowering Module - Lowers the factory air suspension significantly, makes car much more attractive then the stock ride height.

BMC Air Filters - Just installed them, better airflow, not much to say about HP gains. Lots of debate about "oiled filters" and the MAF, I made sure mine was not over-oiled. Installed about 3-weeks already with no issues.

Softronic ECU Tune - Tune for the computer, mine is tuned for 93-octane. I noticed a peppier throttle response and slightly more pull when accelerating. If you get the tune, you automatically get a Durametric as well.

Fabspeed Secondary CAT Bypass Pipes - Gives more growl to the exhaust. The GTS has "sport" mode which also enhances the exhaust sound, but the bypass pipes REALLY bring out the sound.

LED Lighting - All interior and exterior lights replaced with LED's.

Durametric - Not a mod, but a must have for any p-car owner who likes to diagnose their cars. Lets you clear codes, tweak some settings (suspension heights) and might just save you a visit to the dealer/mechanic. As mentioned above, if you get the Softronic ECU tune, you get the Durametric as part of it (the hardware is needed to interface with the car). Some other tunes may do this as well. I just liked the fact that I could install/remove the tune on my own if I need to. No need to drive it anywhere.

iPod/Auxilary Input - My GTS didn't have this installed at the factory, I purchased the kit from Suncoast and my dealer activated the feature. Simple install, now can connect my phone to the PCM and use my phone to stream Pandora/etc.

Thanks Richie. That just about covers everything I was wondering about. I do most of the wrenching on my bikes and cars except for electrical. Do you have any pictures of you GTS in the low stance? Would also like to see the led lights that you have done. Thanks for the tips!

Exterior LED lights?

[QUOTE=richie996;4326257]I have an 09 gts...

LED Lighting - All interior and exterior lights replaced with LED's.

Hi Richie,

I also have a 09 GTS... could you please advise on what external LED's you purchased and where from? I have been to superbrightLEDS.com and when I put in my vehicle details it just give me too many options and I'm not sure what to buy.

Thanks
Andrew.

Did you also upgrade the exterior light under the mirrors? I am interested to replace to LED one but not sure how to remove them.

Thanks.

Yup, those weren't too bad either. The mirror pops off and you can get to the bulb, I believe I found a "how-to" somewhere on this board or another board, you do not have to take the whole assembly apart either, after you get the mirror off you can work out the bulb from there, it wasn't too bad at all.

Thanks Richie and this is great to know. Do you remember what kind of light bulbs were they? My passenger side mirrors does not swivel smoothly and I am thinking maybe I can get the light bulbs change out when remove the mirror to check out the motor.

I don't remember what type they were, I *think* they were the same as all the interior bulbs, but it's been so long I can't remember for sure..
