Hello all I have a general question concerning aftermarket replacement head units..

I recently purchased a Porsche Cayenne S 2004 model and who ever the previous owner wax thought it would be a great idea to rip off the original unit...it currently has an old outdated after market unit installed and while doing research I noticed my doors have the "Bose" speaker covers and to my understanding these systems or amp or whatever use fiber optic amps or something..... My question is what are the odds that this car has the fiber optic converter module installed?? Because I'm really wanting to rip that thing out already and throw it away to replace it with a new Android mirrorlink unit.

So if theirs already an aftermarket unit in my car doors that mean I'm OK for the swap?

Maybe the speakers / amp have already been replaced (downgraded) and are no longer "Bose" and are just in the bose" speaker covers??

Please help because I'm seriously dying to replace this thing but don't want to purchase if it's useless and will just waste my money.

Thank you guys
Xack

Domino is on a distinguished road
Remove your current head unit and take some photos to post here. Then we can guess what do you have there.

If you are looking for a replacement you should read this thread:

I recently purchased one and it works and fits very well. All plug and play in my '04 CS.
