Installed Black Emblems
Well, thanks to lots of online DIY advice and youtube videos, I decided to have a go at replacing my own emblems. Turned out much better than I expected (I have no patience and an extreme need for instant gratification!). If it helps anyone else here was my materials and process....
Black Emblems (got mine from Suncoast)
Hair Dryer
Painters Tape
Rubbing Alcohol (Got a spray bottle of it at CVS)
Length of Fishing Line
Micro Fiber Towels
Wash and dry entire car.
I did one letter at a time.
Laid two pieces of reference tape making sure the tape did not go underneath/behind the existing letter.
Gently heated letter with hairdryer. Doesn't take much.
Gently ran fishing line in a sawing motion under letter. Again, doesn't take much.
Pulled of any remaining chunks of adhesive.
Sprayed any adhesive left with alcohol and wiped entire spot until clean.
Lined up new letter and stuck it on. Easy stuff.
Used a few pieces of tape for the Cayenne. Used the "enne as my top and bottom reference and the "C" as the left/right reference.
The "Cay" on my new emblem was actually bent upwards a bit, so be aware of that. I had already stuck it on. Doesn't look too bad since it's script.
The GTS was easier than I thought. Started with the "S" and just angled the tape to the right and put a piece top and bottom. Worked to the left. You just have to put the tape over and between the "G" and the "S" if that makes sense.
Anyway, took about 90 minutes as I forced myself to take my time. Thought for sure the letters would look like crooked teeth when I was done. I think it came out great and it was really fulfilling when I was done.
