Black Out Pictures :Thoughts

I guess everybody has a different definition of "horrible". Me, I prefer to have reflectors be able to do their job. So I'd be hesitant to apply anything that negatively affected that. Something with a subtle smoke tint could work.

Reflectors are a Govt requirement which in my opinion do not help reduce crashes. The upper tailights have reflective qualities in them as well so I am not even worried about that.

I do agree they are ugly though and I also question their effectiveness, but I agree with wkearney99 that a smoke look to match the tail lights would look better. Maybe if it was a black car it wouldn't look bad, but as it is with the silver the black spots stand out pretty bad.

I dunno, I don't get the fixation on the blacked out look. Sometimes I think folks go 'round the bend with it.
These things have their purposes, one of which is help make it obvious to other drivers where your vehicle is. Bright, shiny, hopefully-give-you-a-reminder-not-to-hit-me warnings. I mean hey, I'm not going to argue the odds, but it just doesn't seem all that smart to let "a look" get in the way of safety. But hey, go with what works for you.

I tend to think of things like that lower reflector from a legal perspective, if an accident happened could it come back to cause problems. If it is blacked out and for example someone hits you in the rear, and they or the officer called to the scene notice it you better bet they will call that into question. Certainly if their insurance company finds out it would become a pressing matter and could actually shift the fault and damages (who knows what your insurance company would then say). Disabling a highway safety measure whether one thinks it is necessary or not is a sure way to accept the liability whether that was the true reason for the accident or not. Just my thoughts though.

Man you guys go deep....law suites, low cars rear-ending me!! LOL, thanks! I will take my chances. Good looking out though. I guess my lowered 997tt is in bad shape for all those jacked up trucks that cant see my reflectors!

Looks good!
I did the same on mine although I went with a medium tint trying to match the rear taillights color - still allows the reflector to show when a light source hits it and looks a lot better than the bright red.

Looks good.
Q: How did you get those lenses out?
I'd like to paint (or tint) both those and my front side marker lamps (that aren't even installed on euro-spec cars) but could never figure out how to remove them...
