pano roof and roof rails? No problem!

For years Porsche has stated that the roof rails are not compatible with the pano roof option (speaking to the 955/957).

It is simply not true. What is true, is that you can put on any standard roof rails (got mine off Ebay from China for around $150).

The pano roof still works fine with no encumberances. They look great.

My theory is that Porsche doesn't want some moron loading the roof rails and shattering the pano roof...so, if you're not a moron and just want roof rails with your pano roof option, go for it!

I bought similar ones and the passenger side barely rubbed causing a slight binding on the roof when closing. I "massaged" the inside of it with a rubber mallet and it was fine. I'm guessing just a small variance in the manufacture of it. I ended up taking mine off though and didn't put 'em back on. They were a bit of a pain to get on just because they didn't line up perfectly with the tracks.

curious where exactly did you get your roof racks for $150. I am interested for my CTT. I have only looked at the ones on sun coasts website which are around $700. I use a Thule space case consistently in the winter for skis and such.

Like the OP posted..."got mine off Ebay from China for around $150"

I did the same thing. Here ya go, lot's of choices. No they are not going to be OEM for that price but they seemed to work. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...racks&_sacat=0

Correct. Porsche does NOT want the expensive Panorama roof destroyed by loading anything above it. The Porsche $tealer told me this themselves....

Apparently they changed their mind with the 958 series. My '11 CTT has both, right from the factory.

958 S is an unknown quantity at this point
My 2012 S has both as well, from the factory. It is actually a pretty common combination on the 958.

Not sure about the loading comment because the OEM crossbars (not roof rails) have always worked with the 955/957 pano roof. If you mount the roof box with T-nut adapters that fit into the crossbar channels, the roof has enough clearance to open and close too. With the hook over clamps I wouldn't try to use the roof while the box is installed.
