Lightbulb Front Plate options....

Currently I am not even considering putting a front plate in the original spot that the GTS is meant to have one, but I would like to discuss options.

I have seen a few of you with installation under the grill, angled but attached to the plastic......

I have also seen online these brackets that as you are driving, the air pushes them upwards and the plate go out of view, and when you stop the plate falls back into place....

A while back I noticed somone with a bracket type installation where you could flip it down when you were stopped, but as you were driving flip it up and amost out of view.(this is what I am after). this was installed under the grill, but to one side of the car, not centered.

I haven't been able to find this Cayenne on the thread, but anyone remember seeing this.?

It was a black Cayenne I believe, it was taken next to another Porsche in his driveway. The season was winter I believe, because I think I remember seeing snow......

Feel free to please discuss other options because this isn't something I am goingto rush into. I want to know all the options before I do anything....

I have in the past just paid the ticket monthly (which is about 30 bucks per ticket).
Curently no tickets (knock on wood).

I'm in the same boat...may just wait until they make me put it on.

As of now, I'm leaving the "registration sticker" on the window, this way if cops come toward me, they see that. I've got the rear plate on, so from behind I'm legit.

The one I am thinking of was more of a folding bracket. It was under like that but it was able to be folded in or out. 90 degrees almost.

Doubt its legal you cant really see it...as on mine you can clearly see the plate and not breaking any state laws and its removable

hmm you should really check with your state laws, sometimes they are unspecific enough where as long as its on the outside of your vehicle and is visible, its legit. my last front plate ticket came to around $140 in MN, but thank god i got it reduced to $40

jace - there was a guy on rennlist who had something like what you are talking about but it was the 1st run turbo.

i was trying to post the wiinter pic but the site is having problems.

in Ontario this imo is legal. the Vehicle Act states only that it must be conspicious and not blocked by a small list of items. i carry a copy of the Act in the glove box! it is much easier to make out in person and i think is clearer than all these ones that cover their plates with plastic. i keep it clean as well so i would in the politest fashion suggest to a cop that they go after the plates they can't be discerned in spite of their position.

i just pumped it into the valance; not too delicate but it really looks good.

Do you mind posting links to the plate frame and parts? I would consider the option on the turbo.

take plate bracket from a version one Turbo and turn it upsidedown. i took the upper notches of the bracket and set them along the cut line of the lower valance ie the unpainted part in the normal turbo front. the lower part of the bracket has tabs out the back that are about 3 inches or 7 or so cm long. they just push against the lower valance as a brace. i then just drilled the thing into the lower valance. the Porsche dealer thought it was nuts and i am sure lots of people will call it brutish, but face it imo the option is a giant plate in the middle of my grill.

so to start, i suggest hitting your dealer and scrounge up an 06 or earlier turbo bracket.
