Yea give me an hour i'll go take apart my cayenne.. and will tell you
My first thoughts.. increase voltage or different bulbs.. will know in like one hour.. so if you'll wait i'll let you know
There are a couple of problems with changing the bulbs. The silver or blue coated bulbs get about as hot as the sun and have been known to melt bulb sockets, wiring, housing, etc. The LED's frequently have substantially lower resistance compared to the stock bulb triggering the "replace bulb" warning on the dash. In the end, it is pretty hard to find many good, safe, options.

Sorry about digging up a post from late last year, but figured this would be the best route to go...
Has anyone found any solid options to replace some of the lights on our Cayennes so we can get a closer match to the HIDs without faults codes, melted harnesses and houses, etc??? I switched the rear license plate bulbs to a xenonmatch color, and it looks clean. Looking to the do the same for a few other bulbs...
- Puddle/Side Mirror Lights
- Static Front Cornering Lights
- High Beam Lights
Experiences, bulb info, pics and/or DIY instructions would be greatly appreciated.
On another note, I had the dealer drop in some chromium lights for the clear sidemarkers on my GTS this AM (since they were taking the wheels off for rotation and alignment, and dropped in yellow fogs), but later got a call from the advisor and tech stating that the temperature difference was more noticeable than I thought it would be (sparkhill, this confirms that they run hotter). Decided to switch to the stock amber lights with clear lens just to be safe...
I'm interested in the LED lights also, I changed out the licence plate lights to 6418 type LED and its working fine without throwing me any error light. I seriously doubt that the dash will through any error lights if you change out exterior lights (side mirror lights or fornt cornering lights).
