thanks for all the information and advice guys. I went with the Blizzak DM-V1's. I'll wait until December to install them since we rarely get snow before Xmas in Philly. The tire is pretty aggressive and I can't get over how soft the compound is. It's like a thick freshly baked Belgian Waffel. I can't wait to put some new shoes on the CS and see how she does in the snow.
I have Dunlop WinterSports M3s on my Subaru wagon. I chose these as I wanted max - non-snow performance - 90% of my winter is driving on the road to get to the snow - with snowflake rated snow tire.
I see M3s in my size for 20s for my Cayenne TT in the sedan area; not the truck. Are they not in the truck area due to the weight rating and should not be run on our heavier rigs?
What is your recommended best snowflake rated high performace tire of the bunch?
Thanks!

I comes down to what you want from your tires. The best performance in the worst conditions (Blizzak), or increase dry performance (Pirelli). I have the DMZ-3 on our XC-90 and the car is absolutely unstoppable in the snow - and the DMZ-1 is supposed to be better.
Time will tell if the DMZ-1 delivers, but I know how proud of the Blizzak line they are, and I am sure they are going to be a winner.

+ 1, Bump for the DM-V1s, I went with them on the ML 55 because based on prior experience with Blizzaks (yes they are squirmy in dry BUT great in ice and snow in our Chicago winters) and Arctic Alpin (I hate them, decent in dry, like an All Season in the snow). I too am in the country and they often take awhile to get the roads done and are now using less salt to save money and to be "green" . However, I do have the new Nokian Hakkepellita R SUV on another vehicle and absolutely love them as well (for about 7,000 miles last winter) . I didn't get the Nokians because I just had to try the newest Blizzak "truck and SUV tire." Report to follow after we get some snow.
Will going from a 275/40R20 to a 275/45R20 winter tire affect the car whatsoever? Asking b/c I'm not sure if the increased outside diameter of only 10mm will affect anything I am not aware of. Should I stay with the OE sizing? Thanks in advance.
Since no one else asked, is the truck under warranty? If so the Blizzaks are not approved and "can" void the warranty. If no, then I would have prefered them over the Pirellis I got.

1) This very issue was raised by Damon from Tirerack in post #12.
2) I called my dealership and asked if they EVER actually deny a warranty claim because of the tires I choose to put on MY car and they said absolutely not!
3) My research indicates both tires are very good. However, I was after the best snow/ice traction I could find without studs and without going to a super aggressive and therefore loud tire.
Bottom line: call your dealer but I'd like to see them try and deny a warranty claim when it's the exact same tire size from a major company.
