My dealer said that there is a part number for it and they have already ordered one. When it gets here, who knows? Hopefully soon. I'm anxious to know more about it.

I am sure one the stealer gets the parts in the price will be closer to 400-500 + labor . The dealers in california are charging $145 / per hour.So based on that info i am sure the dealer price will be $800-1000 maybe even more for the ipod adaptor.
THE NAVTV OPIP DOES ALLOW CONTROL FROM THE STEREO , THE STEERING WHEEL , OR THE IPOD ITSELF.
This is the best adaptor on the market with full US support.Unlike dension that pulled the plug on the american product line and abandoned all their dealers over 1 year ago.
Why buy a product that is not available thru normal retail channels ?

I am with you on the Denison piece. However, if this porsche piece turns out to be a simple install, that will be the ticket. I guess we won't know till it hits the parts department. I have first dibs on the one they're ordering. If the labor is in fact three times the cost of the unit itself, then I won't buy it.

The Porsche system seems like it might be an interesting development to wait out on...however, functioning of the iPod through the PCM and steering wheel will probably be limited.

Not to rant and rave too much against nav-tv, but i was multiple units of replacement through warranty b/c each one had their unique issues...i finally just tossed it and lost out ont he $600 that i paid for it. the only thing that was great about that thing in my opinion was the simple install, ill give it that much--however, it was not worth its price.....i wouldnt even keep it for free.

but maybe all those units just were bad luck for me and it was not meant to be! lol.

Does the NavTV work with an 05 CS w/ nav? or just the 08? Is it possible to upgrade the player/firmware so mp3 cd's can be read? can a generic mp3 player (sansa) be used instead of an iPod?

Thanks

I am pretty shocked that no one has piped up with the truth about NavTv and Denision units.

They are expensive and unstable.

The Porsche offering is not for Cayenne. PCM3 is not available yet.

mObridge have the only good stable working solution.

Ask how many NavTv units get returned to dealer/manufacturer

dear god...whatever you do, do NOT purchase the nav-tv unit. trust me...i went through THREE units before they finally agreed to give me a refund. which took about a month because the chief accountant....let me not even get started.

sales reps are nice (the two of them........they ocmprise the entire sales line) but anyone else, good lord.

for the $515 i paid for it....WORTHLESS.....oh wait i had to fight for that because they try to sell it to youf or $650...which i paid for at first then fought for the difference credit.

mobridge

all the way...have had it installed for a month now...quite happy to say the least. sound is much crisper than the nav tv....n is MUCH more stable.

also there is an aux input so you can pretty much use i think any audio source almost to input into it.

I just googled mobridge and came up with 57+ websites pertaining to Mobridge, SD and zero (so far) relating to car stereos.

How much is it? I didn't see anything on their site regarding MSRP.

probably a little from column A and a little from column B.

Why would you not just install a new unit? It looks some 6speeder fav's like the Avic D3 and the Pioneer 8019 are in the $600-800 range, not including install.

I don't want to mess with aftermarket pieces. I'd prefer to keep everything in the Cayenne factory. I still can't believe that a 2008 Porsche doesn't have an aux in jack. Weak....

I keep hearing rumors about porsche offering a factory ipod connection for our cars that can be installed after delivery. Guess I'll wait till that eventually makes it to market.

I agree. I don't want to mess with aftermarket either. I'm just really irritated, like you, that there is no auxilliary jack. My 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon had one for cripes' sake. If nothing else, a player that can read mp3 cds. But how good is an add-on iPod adapter gonna look slapped on the dash? Will it be controllable at the sterring column? I've been thinking about some exterior mods, but I'd rather drop some coin on the PCM first.
