Hey guys, I was thinking about painting my 99 M-Coupe Satin Black. I know everyone is wrapping thier cars but I would rather paint... much less money since we do our own paint. My paint guy has not done an entire car with Satin or Matte Black yet. He said he would be worried that if any trash gets in the paint you can't buff it out ect....
There is basically 2 ways of doing this... single stage matte black paint or matte clear coat over black paint.
Does anyone out there recomend and specific type of paint or method.
Also what kind of care will I be looking at... can I even wax it?
Just looking for a little bit more info on the process.

I have a 70 BOSS 302 with matte black paint on about 30% of the car. It is a pain in the a$$. You can not wax matte black so paint protection is a problem. My BOSS is a toy and spends most of its life in a garage these days, but if you plan to use you car as a daily driver the paint will eventually oxidize causing an uneven appearance. Go matte wrap!
·Matte or Satin Finish Paint
Do not polish or wet-sand a matte clear, as the flattening agents that cause the matte appearance (textured finish) by diffuse reflection are retained very close to the surface. By levelling the surface the light will be reflected evenly and result in a ‘shine’. Use a rotary polisher and an ultra soft, zero abrasive cut (Lake County CCS Concourse Gold (100 PPI) foam pad) with a mild chemical paint cleaner/ polish (Zaino Z-AIO - All in One) it will remove surface marring and leave it flat and dull. Use a clear polymer (Zaino Z-CS - Clear Seal) to provide surface protection
We've found that ANY all-in-one product or polish, wax will leave behind a slight shine and will effect the overall look of the flat paint. I recently did some work on a wide-body porsche with the painter and designer who made the exterior carbon fiber body pieces. He painted the exterior a flat black with the clear and paint mixed. The car looked great and we tried a few different products on the exterior and a product that worked well to clean the paint was Meguiar's Final Inspection. It simply removed the finger prints and dust...and that's all you can really do on this type of paint systems as of the moment. Just make sure you use a waffle-weave microfiber as opposed to the normal microfiber. It won't streak with waffle-weave.

The guys up at vivid racing said to use matte clear and that you can wax it just like normal paint....
Just trying to get my duck in a row before I pull the trigger.
I don't want to invest a bunch of time and only have the car look good for 6 months. It does spend the majority of time in my garage but I still like to detail it and feel wax is essential for paint protection and longevity.
