I would recommend the Turbo shift ****.
The all silver, while presenting the best wear and oil resistance, will turn into a heat sink during the summer. Grabbing a 100 degree chunk of heat soaked aluminum metal = no bueno.

Pretty poor paint wear resistance on Porsche's behalf. I would think a car of this quality the pieces would be dyed injection molded plastic or at a minimum have several layers of clear matte paint protection.

So, I have ordered replacement pieces for the damaged plastic ones. I like the idea of clear matte paint protection. Is this something I could do to the parts before installing them? Does anyone know of a good product to use?

Actually, now that I think of it what may be a better solution is applying a small sheet of matte film. Something such as Premier Satin Guard or X-Pel.
Possibly even a Smart phone screen protector film cut to size would work? You can pick those up at just about any store lately - $5 or less for a pack of 3.

Satin Guard...

I finally had all of the replacement parts installed. Total cost was about $800 for parts and labor. Here are some pics.

If I were you, I'd send one of the damaged pieces to color-plus for a color
match and have the paint on hand for when your new pieces suffer the same fate. The ignition key trim is really vulnerable.

cool

excellent job, i have the exact same exterior color and interior no black parts at all, i would like to paint my center console either black or volcano gray. there is a plasti paint like plasti dip its sold in autozone color graphite metallic from duplicolor customwrap. The good thing its that if you dont like it, you just peel it off. its almos identical color to volcano gray on the ac module. On the other hand your shifter know is awsome, where did you buy it how much did you pay for it?

This is a pretty old story, so I just saw your question. I am actually into a newer 997 also with natural brown full leather. That shifter was purchased from Suncoast for around $300 I think.
