Removing fake CF vinyl?
Hi Everyone,
I just bought an M6 thats being transported to me right now and there are a few things I know I need to do as soon as it arrives. The first thing will be to remove the fake, really crappy looking carbon fiber vinyl that is currently in the door sills.
Is there anything you all would recommend to do this? Right now I'm thinking just goo-gone, heat, and some elbow grease but if there are any tips/tricks to make things easier, I'd really appreciate it. I did a quick google search but everything i'l getting back is about removing full wraps and seems more geared towards professionals. Given how small the area is, I don't know if it will be worth to it take it to a shop. That, and I really enjoy doing most car things myself
Thanks in advance!

Steam works wonders if you have a steamer. The heat will help, but don't get it too hot/warm. Goo gone/adhesive remover will be your best friend. Just watch the surrounding areas/leather.

Thanks Sizzle! I may have to "borrow" my wife's clothes steamer and see if I can make that work... Goo-gone shouldn't hurt paint at all, right? Do I need to make sure it's thoroughly rinsed off with soap or anything like that? Thanks again~

No prob VT! Yeah, it shouldn't hurt it, but yes, wipe it off well with a damp cloth/micro fiber and some interior cleaner and then some leather conditioner/interior conditioner can't hurt either afterwards.
