Anyone have any idea what are they for? The wires look OEM so I doubted that it aftermarket. The other two connectors are for heated seat. Thanks

I was doing some talking with some engineers at work and we could not come up with a consensus answer. My questions was this:

It is pretty well accepted that a CAI does not do much for power on a NA 996. When your car is at altitude (I'm in Boulder, CO) it loses power due to less oxygen in the air. Would our cars benefit more from a CAI up here than down at sea level?

I know that my car has lost power since moving here from Florida ad thought I would pose the question.

Long term lurker, first time poster on here.

Been looking at owning a Porsche for a while now and have been running into a few of them out there.

One in particular caught my eye. 2005 Carrera 4S with under 20k miles. It's been owned in California the entire time. Based on the pictures, the car looks to be in great condition.

I can probably pick this for somewhere in the low $40s.

This will be replacing my 1995 BMW M3 (with 50k miles) which is a huge upgrade.

Just wanted to see what you guys' thoughts are on it.

I recently purchased an 01 911 cabrio with the tiptronic transmission. The left side muffler has a loose baffle causing a loud irratating rattle. I found a used stock muffler and called a porsche dealer to make sure that there was no difference between the manual and tiptronic and they told me there were two different part #'s for these mufflers but could'nt tell what the difference was or if they would bolt up without any problems. Does anyone know what it is and if anyone is selling an oem muffler at a reasonable price I'm interested as I passed on the original muffler, my email is crgrantom@yahoo.com. thanks.

More questions to help me shop for my 996:
What should be included in a PPI? Is a compression check overdoing it for a car under 100K miles? The Porsche indie (recommended) charges for 1 hour labor..is that adequate?

How common are IS and RMS failures and what’s the typical mileage they occur at?

How common is the 996 engine failure nightmare I saw several threads thread on? (This could be a real deal breaker.)

Will Carfax list an engine replacement?

Are RMS/IS problems limited to 6-sp trans?

How well do Porsche emissions electronics (MAF, oxy sensors) hold up?

Are there any common 996 problems or aggravations I need to watch out for?

I've looked at a '99 996 coupe w/68K miles offered at $19K (was $22K a few weeks back). Service records back to '04 look good. New clutch at 53K. Car looks clean. No oil spot under it. Its offered by a specialty car dealer who pointed out the rehab he did; repainted front bumper skin, polished headlamp lens, re-dyed seats. He even showed me the title and previous owners name. (I should've asked for the phone no.) I have some concern that its been registered in four states, but its been local for several years. Didn't drive it yet. No PPI yet.

I also have a 2000 cab auto w/53K miles to see this weekend but its offered at $28K...and 50 miles away.

Need help!

I currently have Michelin's PS2 Summer tires, but need to change them to All Season tires because I moved to the east coast from the west!

Here are my tire sizes:
Front: 225/40ZR18
Rear: 285/30ZR18

What would you recommend??

Tirerack has two tires for sale that fits my car:

1. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus

OR

2. Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season

Michelin has a higher review, but I would like a second opinion.

Also, I heard that there are sponsors that could help me get a good deal? I guess I'm looking at about $1K right now.

Thanks!
