I was driving my Boxster S and the gas pedal felt a little wobbly..... until it broke.. weirdest thing I think that's ever happened to me while driving.. embarrassing at a stoplight. Anyone had to replace the pedal? It appears the pieces have stretched so that the metal ball bearings don't stay in the pedal any more... I'll try the parts dept at the porsche dealer tomorrow.. glad I have my fallback mini to drive..

Ideas anyone?

Okay I am going to be the owner of my very first porsche, and first sports car. I am coming from a 2006 Audi A4 Quattro 2.0T. I have been looking and driving for a few weeks and think I have narrowed it down to two different cars. The are bascially the same price, with the same color schemes and basically the same interior options. This will be my daily driver except for nasty winter days.

1. 2007 Porsche Cayman with 47k miles and 19" carrera wheels, 5 speed manual
pros: I like the looks better, coupe, better mpg, and more cargo room, newer

2. 2005 Porsche Boxster S with 35k miles and 19" carrera wheels. 6 speed manual.
pros: More power, short throw shifter?, less miles, wife likes it better.

So from you experience porsche owners and need your basic thoughts, what don't I know about these cars that I should, or that would make a difference in the decision. Thanks a lot for your time reading and responding.

Nitto NT-01 Seam Separation - Bizzare!

Attached are photos of my Nitto NT-01 tires after 3 dry sessions at Mid-Ohio (tires were new going in, and were in perfect condition going out), and...

Attached are photos of my Nitto NT-01 tires after 3 dry sessions at Mid-Ohio (tires were new going in, and were in perfect condition going out), and 5 sessions at Putnam Park this October. These are the right front and left rear tires, with the inside edge having the deepest cut in both. This is EXACTLY the same failure I had in two tires (but it was the right front and RIGHT rear that time) the last time I was at Putnam in July.

So, I've had two of my four Nitto's fail in exactly the same way, twice, at the same track. The first time in July I drove r.t. on new NT-01's to Putnam (120 miles total). I ran for three days in the dry, some 12 sessions. When I got back and took the tires off, I noticed the failures.

So, I bought 4 new tires, and kept the two good ones as spares. I took the 4 tires to Mid-Ohio in September in the back of a pickup, only ran them 3 dry sessions on the track and to the hotel (hotel was 10 miles away). I monitored the tires the whole time, and there were no problems. Then I trailered the car to Putnam again and ran 5 dry sessions. I figured the tires were fine, and didn't check closely. I trailered the car back and when I took the tires off the car, I noticed the failures.

According to my tire/wheel guy, this is a 'seam separation', and can be caused by excessive stress. He'd seen it a lot on Goodyears, but never on Nitto's. I monitored my tire temps at Putnam and never got over 175 deg F (after cool-down lap). I was driving very hard there, running in the 1:19-1:20 range. I've spoken to a lot of people, and posted on some other sites, but no one has had this problem. I've had it twice. What do you think is up? And - has anybody else had this problem with Nitto's???

Hi there. I am new to the forum and I need some help. I have a 2009 Boxster S and the stock exhaust is way too quiet!! I am looking for an aftermarket muffler (CAT-Back only) with a deep/loud sound, no drone, and hopefully some nice gains in power. I have seen video clips from Fabspeed and FVD Brombacher and they both sound pretty good. Are there any other units available out there? Also, any 6-Speeders out there with any of these units (or any other units) with any opinions/sound videos would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Hey guys.
I have the Diagnostic tool and my friend who has the '04 Boxster wanted to use it.
I thought the OBD slot would be in the foot well under the steering wheel. We could not see it. Could you help me locate it.... is it under the plastic cover? Do I need to take the cover off?
I was comparing it to my 996 where it is not that difficult to see in the foot well.
You could obviously tell that I am not that much of a handy man with these cars... but trying to help my friend.

thanx for the help.
