In response to vArT's last post on the closed 130 190 thread. Art, I agree that my car underperformed at the mile and have said so publicly before your sledgehammer revelation. The car ran what it ran, no excuses. I don't make excuses unlike yourself. Tom kicked my butt from one side of TX to the other, just a fact.
I have no problem with Betim running so fast and my car running so slow. If I want a 225 mph car it is nothing more than a phone call. It isn't like I am going to finance the build on credit cards. It just isn't what I want today, maybe tomorrow I will feel different. Regardless, if I ever am fortunate to have such a car you can be guarateed I will drive it to the limit myself.
So to recap, I just think people want more data and less bs. Cheers Bro!

I want to go a bit more agressive than the stock clutch but do not want to hear all of the chattering noise that I have been hearing about. What clutch and flywheel setup do you guys recommend. Thanks

Hey everyone, well this is my first time on a porsche forum so i figured id ask around about the 996 TT. The market for them is pretty reasonable right now, so i figured id treat myself. Ive been in a few 700+whp ones, and im no stranger to german performance. But i heard about the 996's having some problem with crank case leak ? or something of that nature.

Pro's & Con's of the car ?
how long will the stock turbo's last along with the trans?
& the longevity if i do simple upgrades such as exhaust, tune...

thanks guys.

Hi, in the last week i have noticed an oil leak under the transmission ... the first time it was just a little bit (no drops on the floor) but it has become suddenly a very big leak.
I have gone under the car and i have seen a big (very big - 1 drop on the floor every 5-10 sec) amount of oil coming from the top of the rear differential (where the accumulator and the slave cylinder are located).
I know that the clutch accumulator faults prematurely but my questions is if anybody has experienced, together with the stiff pedal, oil leak from it ?
The car has about 70000 miles and never changed the accumulator and the cylinder but, to me, a similar leak is very strange ... but there's nothing more, in that place, that can lose oil !

Hi.

Tried search: for me search seems to be hosed at present as all sorts of unrelated things pop up.

Issue: I need to be right next to the car to get the alarm to arm and disarm now. I used to be able to get it from about 100 feet. Same key. I replaced the battery and nothing changed.

I did have SeriousAutosport upgrade my seats for me (to be posted once I get some pictures in place) to GT3 euro rs seats.....could that have screwed up the alarm antenna????

Thanks guys!

The car does act different..Off the line, there is a small lag but once it gets moving i shoot up to .9 immediatly. I am spooling quicker. At idle, its just as quiet as stock, but when you hit it, it sounds pretty good. Im running a speedtech exhaust and cant be happier with the setup. This beta test was well worth it...Garrett turbos are on the way in Jan........

I have a 996tt 6Spd and recently had a oil change.
According to my user manual the car should be taking about 8.5qts.

Just how sensitive is this engine to overfilling ? Should I be worried about anything more than .5qts overfill or is it pretty safe up to ????

Reason I am asking is that after a long drive (300miles) and speeds up to 125 and near 6.5k. I was expecting some drop in oil level. But there has not been any drop and I am beginning to wonder if the mechanic over filled the oil. Normally after a long day of some aggressive driving I see some drop in the level by at least one to two bars. But only after very hard driving.

Are my expectations normal for a drop in level after a day of hard driving and should I be concerned about a potential overfill ?

I just completed another Aquamist HFS-6 install here at the shop, figured I would post up a couple pictures of what this install actually involves and what it could look like when its finished.

This install is slightly different than our "usual" install which involve hanging a 6QT tank over the front of the gas tank. The customer felt that placement of a tank there would not allow him optimal cargo space as he often would fill it. The solution was to mount a tank on the side, where he felt it was out of the way. A 4QT tank was used, and even though it would need to be filled up more often, it allowed us to retain 110% of the factory "things" under the false floor; spare, jack, toolkit, amp, air pump, and water injection pump ;).

The wiring in the corner hanging in front of the interior panel was done during a radar detector/jammer install or something and it was pulled too tight to fix it, but it gets covered by a Bose box :D
We have significant experience with installing these kits, and we do offer free install support, wiring diagrams, and general tips to customers and their install shops with the kit purchases.
