My new '09 C2S is displaying this message on the odometer display whenever I turn on the key:

"Service in XXX days"

My C2S was bought brand new in late September this year, but it had been sitting at the dealership for almost a year, thus explaining the 1-year service reminder. The car build date is November 2008.

Since the car only has less than 400 miles as we speak, should I bring it in to have the dealer reset the service reminder, or is it something that I can reset myself?

TIA guys!

Hey All,

I'm halfway through the planning stage for an interior overhaul in my car (what material, which pieces, pricing out, etc). While I always like the idea of OEM over anything (maybe a bad habit, not sure) the MA Carbon parts look to be of extremely nice quality, have a couple awesome pieces not done by Porsche, and offer a matte finish that is much more to my preference. My car already has the full leather interior so I really only want to replace things that are plastic. What are your experiences with MA Carbon? I have fantastic guys to do the install, so that isn't an issue. Thanks in advance.

I know that there is a general hesitation to buying any car in the first year of its production, as there are often "bugs" in that car that are worked out in the subsequent renditions of that car.

From time to time, I hear people say to watch out when buying a 2005 997 as opposed to later years. Can anybody give me any specifics regarding failures or problems associated with 2005 997 S's that a potential buyer should look out for?

In case you're wondering, I'm doing some scouting for a friend of mine who is buying his first Porsche, and I want to make sure I don't steer him wrong.

thanks a lot!

Hi Friends,
In the course of countless mods and services, helpful phone calls, and those willing to lend a hand, here is my list of those I will personally vouch for, whom you can safely be comfortable doing business with. I recommend them not only because I've bought or worked with them, but because I have done so and had consistently positive experiences:

-Evolution Motorsport (EVOMS)
-AWE Tuning
-RSS
-BumperPlugs
-Dension
-Misha
-Butler Tire
-Synergy Racing
-Hennessy Porsche Service Dept
-SunCoast Porsche Parts
-Justatoy (6speed member)
-Lakerholic (6pseed member)
-Bara (6speed member)
-Brando (6speed member)
-RMag (6speed member)
-Gundo (6speed member)

There are some whom I've inadvertently omitted, and some whom I've intentionally omitted. But at a minimum, these firms or people can be counted on, and I give them my personal CATTMAN seal of approval.

Hi guys,
today finally I bought my 997.
After a long period of search I found in the beginning of the week the car I was always looking for - Black on Full Tan Leather.
The only bad point of the car is that it is a 2005, but it is CPOed with Porsche Warranty and one owner.
Furthermore the car has only 22.000 meiles on the odometer - the seats look like new and the tires are new;)
I hope to get the car in the next days. So far I only can offer some photos the dealer took for me.

Options arent that much, but exactly the stuff I would like to have.
Full Leather
19" Carrera S Wheels
Black on Tan
Bose
Seatheating
fully powered seats
Xenon
Sportsteering wheel.

Chrono, PASM etc. are only "a fun gadget" for...so I dont need those.

In the end the dealership was a bit "pushy" but I really wanted to have this car ;)

Recently I have seen various posts showing evidence of a renewed enforcement of the front license plate requirement in some states. This is why I just purchased JCS' tow-hook mounting plate. I looked at several designs and selected this one. Why?

1 - It is well made. Well machined metal parts and good fasteners
2 - Great (light) black stiff plastic backplate - warp-free
3 - Flexible post mounting attach points, offering multiple offsets
4 - And most important - light weight as compared to other heavier designs.

I will keep it in the trunk. But, if the pressure is on I will put it on permanently. Off-center is not a bad thing. Many classic cars have off-center front plates.

Here are some pics I borrowed from another thread:

I have no affiliation with JCS (who BTW is a forum member), just a satisfied customer.

I'm assuming its the mirror b/c the whisteling is coming from the front of the driver's window. Could be the window as well I suppose. The noise doesn't come and go. It's always there, although it seems louder when its windy out.

Its a 997.2 with only 1700 miles on it. At first I just asssumed that was normal, but the more I think about it, why should any modern car have a window or side mirror that whistles in the wind??

Is this normal? has anyone experienced this and then had it fixed?

Thanks,

I know it is a no brainer buy new gaskets, however... I do not have anyone locally that carries them and I would have to overnight them to have them in time for this weekend to install a set of used AWE headers.

Anyway in the past I have reused steel 'shim' gaskets similar to those on the header to head, and header to cat. Does anyone one have any experience (good or bad) reusing these gaskets?
