I'll start off apologizing if this question has been asked before. I tried searching with no results. My AM is an 09 and I picked it up new last week. When driving your AMV8, do you notice a knocking on your steering wheel, like a force feedback on PS3 controllers? I asked the dealership and the sales person said that it is normal. He mentioned that Top Gear mentioned this with their review.

Ok guys...here it is. Now that the 6 is back up and running, here's my dyno chart. The end result was 456 at the wheels, so using 20% drivetrain loss (seems consistent, given the 307 rwhp stock run), that puts it right at 570 hp at the crank. Keep in mind the wheels haven't gone on yet. After the wheel weight numbers came back I realized I wasn't saving as much as I thought, but still probably around 15 lbs of rotating mass which should help.

As you can see, by 4000 rpm there's a 60+ hp difference at the wheels, which rapidly increases. By 5000 rpm the difference is over 100 hp at the wheels (120 at the crank), with a peak difference of 163 rwhp (204 at the crank at 6250 rpm. It looks like it flattens off from 6250 to redline, but the power doesn't drop off. It will stay in that sweet spot of 100-200 hp difference during straight-line runs as the rpms don't dip below 5000 when shifting at redline in any gear. I haven't seen the torque curve yet, but I'd expect good gains across the power band.

I logged into FC Kerbeck to see if they had a DBS Volante and I noticed that they have 2 vantage V8 2010 listed as "Base". This kind of designation usually means that there is something better than base model. I have not heard of something other than the 4.7 N/A. I have heard that AM is "trying" to bring the V12 here. I wonder if that is why they are listing the V8 4.7 as base. Has anyone seen this or have info on what something other than base is? Here is the link.

I post this on amoc.org, and I like to get some thoughts here. V8V and 997 turbo are both my dream car. I have been following the v8v progress thru since launch. Like most, I consider it as one of the sexiest car around. But till now, I am still reading about issues and reliability. I understand most go to forum to report problems, and ask for help. Here are my questions:

Is this a good time to pick up a 2010 v8v?

What can I expect in term of price break for an order car? There were reports of $15K and more off on some 08 stock last year. And all three dealers around me have plenty sitting around. But walnut creek no longer sell AM. SVAG is being sold. The only dealer left is in Marin.

If I were to look into an 2010 vantage, what do i do, where do I go? My main concern is always the services needed for the car. How is 09 reliability and build quality compare to 06 to 08? I been looking at Vantage for many years, there were a lot of them at Los Gatos. How is the price on 2010? Are they giving a decent break?
