As the owner of a 99 360 Modena with 50,000 miles I had a few good laughs reading the posts on this thread. I get a kick out of the people who don't/haven't own/owned a Ferrari giving out advice to potential buyers.
I bought my Modena (2nd Ferrari) at 45k miles and have put roughly 5k miles on in just a year. The car was due for the major (timing belt) service when I bought it. Total cost of $4112 and this included all the fluids as well. During the first week of ownership I noticed the car seemed to run rich. A quick trip to my local Porsche specialists and an hour of labor later turned up a dirty MAF sensor. Ferrari's use a Bosch Motronic system on the 360's so the Porsche guys were right at home. The tech explained that the previous owner had over oiled the K&N filters. They cleaned the MAF for me and there has been no problem since.
So now, some 5k miles later I've had zero problems. Nothing. And the one problem that I mentioned was due to operator error, not Ferrari error.
To the OP, there are two pieces of advice that I can give you:
1. Get yourself a log in at Ferrari Chat. There is an amazing amount of real information on Ferrari ownership there. Try to get advice from owners, not dreamers or haters.
2. Do a PPI on whatever car you buy no matter what. I don't care if it's a 1k car or an 80k car.
I have enclosed a picture of the mythical beast. (the 50k mile Ferrari) I will post some pics of the Sasquatch and the Loch Ness monster as well if you would like to see some more.

You might want to read through this thread on fchat

Just some comments based on what I see:
1. The car has pretty basic equipment, no challenge grills, no scuderia shields. , can't tell if it has any exhaust upgrades, standard wheels.
2. I am not a fan of that blacked out headlight, but can probably be removed easily
3. Doesn't state where the vehicle has been serviced at. I would call the dealer and find out, then ask on Fchat to see if anyone knows the shop that it has been serviced at. Service is extremely important and if done incorrectly, can cost you more in the future regardless of whether clutch and belts are replaced or not.
4. It is a NA vehicle (not a Euro), so you should be able to call any authorized Ferrari dealer to make sure all the campaigns are being performed. Since this is a 99, if the major ones are not performed, then it might be very costly to fix them in the long run.
5. Best of course is a PPI at a reputable shop or dealer. If you are buying the car remotely, then that would be a challenge.
Mileage is not an issue if serviced properly. F1 transmission is good and bad, but always more costly to maintain in the long run as compared to manual. Some people have no issues with F1 at all however.
Black/Black looks amazing, especially if they are clean. Best of luck and hope you find what you are looking for.

+1 on what Hiro said. Service (and who performed what) is important.
Just as a data point, my 41,000 mile F1 transmission has been completely trouble free and reliable. They can go through clutches more quickly than a manual, depending on how you drive, but they sure are fun! I love mine and would chose it again over a manual.....just a personal preference for the technology.
Good luck with the seach.

A good resource in the Columbus area is NJB Associates in Westerville (suburb of Columbus). They are top notch, know Ferrari inside and out, and could certainly do a PPI if you pursue that particupar car.
I'm in the Cleveland area so Columbus isn't near, but let me know if there's any way I can help.
Cheers.

NJB Associates and Evans Automotive are different. I've heard good things about Evans Automotive but have used NJB exclusively on my 360 for many years and can attest to their expertise, knowledge, fairness, etc. I think if you search under weserviceferrari.com, you'll find NJB's website. The owner, Jack Babbit, is a great guy.
