F430 Test Drive, Have Some Questions
#16
if you are looking for pure speed forget the 430 or even 458. It's not about speed. I had a 600+ 911 turbo and while it was a beast and super fast, the 430 is so much more and then some. I have a manual, nicely optioned with the full capristo package and this car screams like the NA F1 cars used too!
I love everything about this car and will never get rid of it unless someone were to offer stupid money. I cant speak for F1 430s, but the gated shifter in one of the last modern NA F cars is simply awesome!

Don't know if anyone touched base on what "Berlinetta" means, but it's basically a fancy way of saying coupe, or small, sporty enclosed car. Pesky Italian's and their sophistication.
You have to keep in mind what era the F430 came out of.. If you're stepping out of a 991 PDK into a F-1 trans car from the mid 2000's.. there's gonna be some noticeable differences. Just keep in mind 360's and 430's are not, and were not, 0-60 cars. Sure it's Ferrari and it's supposed to be fast, but over-all performance and endurance was the goal.
3 pedal F430's, if you can find one and can afford it, are great as you have total control. With the F-1 its all about finesse and throttle timing when shifting. Its not just a "pedal to the metal" and "slam your way through the gears as fast as you can" car. Think of it as a clutch pedal-less manual.. timing and throttle control all require attention. You're just a lot more involved when you're honed in on peak performance.
Hope this helps as I realize the original post is a year old
