The floor looks like it might take a beating, how is it holding up so far? Any scuffs or marks that are now permanent?
It's actually held up great so far. Since I've installed, we've pulled a few motors, fabricated a entire 3" exhaust, and done many brake bleeds and oil changes. So far it's held up great.
Only bad this is when welding I have to put a large piece of carpet down so it doesn't melt the tiles.... no big deal.

I've been on the VW forums (VWVortex.com) for a long time, as well as been into VWs for a long time too. (That is where I know bruce from, old Volksport club back in the '90s) A large group of people decided to pitch in to get the floor done. I didn't even ask. In exchange I gave them all free lift time. The VW community is a amazing group of people.
The time has finally arrived. We just got a notification from the WADOT that they will need to buy our property. But that's only if the Roads and Freeway bill passes in November. We knew this day was going to come, but we didn't think it would happen for 10 years. (at least that is what our neighbors said when we moved in)
See picture:
Basically they will be buying our property and tearing down the garage, and reselling just the hosue at auction. They also may be tearing down the house, but I doubt that. The freeway will be coming directly up to the garage, or just past our property line, which lies 3 feet into our property
NOOOOOOOO!! Eminent domain has got to be one of the worst government powers. Be sure to itemize all of those upgrades in the appraisal and then assist the demo company by removing everything of any value before they throw it in the dumpster ; )

hell, get it appraised and then gut the interior and put it in storage untill you find somewhere else to put it.
Also, make sure you get paid for the labor that you did.
More than likly I am going to do this. Except I don't think labor comes into play, that was just savings on my part when I built it.
They have to find me a comparible house and garage. If they can't they have to build one for me (so there is my labor), or give us the money to build one. I'm thinking 1400 SqFt with a loft big screen and a pool table. If they just give me the money, I will probably do it my self to get a larger SqFt garage.
