How do you like it???

Mine is supposed to be here in two weeks and I still don't know whether I should get rid of the RS4 for now once it arrives or not... Best color choice too.

Why not a white GTR to match the white GT3?

Some first driving impression.

Gears are very short, and red line comes up so fast that you almost have to anticipate when you need to hit the paddle in the first 2nd gears. When you do, the duo clutch gearbox shift much smoother then the SMG in the e60 M5. The gear box is amazing but annoying at the same time with all the weird noise coming from it. Auto mode shifts way to early. I can start from stop and by the time I hit 30-35, I'm in 6th gear....I found myself always in Manual mode like I was in the M5

Ride is very very stiff in R mode and in comfort. I think the 20" run flats are mostly to blame, but I wouldn't know for sure till I have a chance to try some nice rubbers on aftermarket wheels. On freeways that is not very smooth, I feel like I'm bouncing down the freeway. If the comfort mode is supposed to be any softer, the difference is so small you can barely tell. But on the other hand, the stiffness almost hides the 3900lbs on the backroads. The car always feels planted, and really feels like there is not much you can do to upset the balance of the car. There is no drama. There is slight under steer when you push it, but you feel the front wheel put the front back inline instantly.

Traction control is way too intrusive in normal mode even for everyday street driving. The R mode is much better, but looking forward to trying it on the track.

It's faster then the GT3. Easier to handle the the GT3. But not as rewarding to drive. This thing is so easy to drive and so easy to drive fast. I've heard from someone that you feel connected with the GT3 as a driver and it feels like the GTR is taking you for a ride and I couldn't agree more. It's 2 very different cars. GT3 are what driving 911's are all about. and the GTR is combination of everything the Japanese ever did right.

This thing is incredibly fun, but there is still some things that bother me about the car.

Interior is sub-par for a 70k car.
the headliner looks like they pulled it out of a sentra.
Seat adjustment is poor. I think I need to loose a little weight to be comfortable in this seat.
The rear seat simply cannot fit adults. don't even think about it.
The exhaust is way too quiet. aftermarket exhaust is definitely in my plans.

Finally, one thing that suprised me. The attention this car gets right now is almost comical. I've never had so many thumbs up from guys, girls, cars, bikes, etc... people made u turns and chase me down just to see the car. everytime I come back to the car there is a couple of guys with their phones, cameras, taking pictures of it. I'm sure there is some of you with a impressive stable that are used to this, but I've never seen this kind of reaction. I was playing basketball and in a period of 1.5 hours, I saw about 10 cars pull off the road and into the parking lot just to see the car.

Can't wait to get this thing on a track and have some fun.

There is some pros & cons on this car. But the pros out weight the cons for me.

(sorry for rambling on and on.. )

Thanks for the great feedback. Enjoy your ride, and you can also turn traction control off. But most people are faster around the track with traction control on R mode.

Congrats !! That is an interesting combo. The GT-R is a real competitor and its stock bhp has been in doubt , meaning that it is much higher than the stated 480 bhp.
Personally I am not to sold on the lines but I must say that black really does make the GT-R lines look much better.

Enjoy it in good health,
Ranger

Congrats on the GTR and thanks for the nice review! The car looks quite aggressive in Black with gunmetal grey rims.

Great review.

At $70k, can't really complain too much about the GT-R.

Drove the GT3 today. I think the driving the GTR will only reminds me of how special the GT3 really is. The GT3 really is an amazing car, I recommend all of you to go out and drive another sports car for a day and come back and drive your 3's.
