Gt3 Oil Change
How often do you guys change your oil under normal conditions(no track time). My '08 has 2K Mi. and I'm wondering if I should do the oil. Thanks for your input it's been invaluable.

So are the guy that bought the orange GT3 from Champion. I saw it in person and have several pics. Beautiful car you have there.
I would have changed it after 1000 miles or after the break in period. Then follow regular schedule like every 3000. Factory says to go 10,000 but no way. Good luck and enjoy it. Ranger

Also before you warm up the motor gently loosen the filter housing or it expands and Thor cant get it off.

you guys that change oil every 3k miles ever looked at the oil drained out? i did... it looks nearly new. even at 5-7k, it's in very good shape. I'd not waste your time changing it at 3k.

I follow Porsche recommendations. 1 Year or 10K miles. Since I probably have only 4K or 5K miles a year I don't worry about it at all. More frequent oil changes are probably just a waste of Oil and money. If you really want to be accurate then send an oil sample at 3K miles or 5K miles to Blackhawk for analysis. Otherwise you are just taking a guess.
BTW, here is some food for though regarding frequent oil changes. http://www.automobilesreview.com/aut...sumption/2141/

3 to 4K and you KNOW you are safe, any more and then obvious debate begins. The oil over 3-4K is cheap.....a lot cheaper than an engine. I could even see every 5K tops but after that?

Many manufacturers have implemented variable intervals (even on M BMWs and Audi RS4s), they probably have a vague idea about what they are doing and I trust that they stay on the safe side. This said, if changing oil every couple thousand miles gives you piece of mind and satisfaction in believing you are taking great care of your car, it's probably well worth the money and the time.

My car told me to do it. The service writer says it was because it was a year old...It only had 1600 miles.

I just changed my oil today with about 3,000 miles on the clock, about 1800 of that was at the track. the oil was pretty dirty, Next time I will change oil after 1200 track miles. street miles comparatively is no big deal, but track with shifts at 8000 is a different story.
