What do you guys thing is projected depreciation for a 2010 GT3 with medium options? based on the 2007/08 drop before 997.2 I am thinking approx 10-15k, 5-7 per year for first few years. Sound right?
Please don't reposnd with the boilerplate: who cares, they are not investments, drive what you love, yadda yadda yaddaaa. I'm just looking for number and thoughts about the numbers.

Based on less than 5k miles per year and in cherry condition with the right options (PADM for sure) I would guess more like $12k per year. I don't think much worse, but they could. I have a Nov. build on order so I am not painting a bad picture just being realistic.

I checked TMV before posting. No data for 2010's. 07's are listed at 5-7 per year. I think 12K is high, but possible. $100k selling price in two years for something with a $124K MSRP sounds possible... ?? Probably likely to be something between our estimates, though.

Sure, however, 3-3 1/2 years from now the 991 gt3 will arrive, hence forcing the .2's prices down. The prices will likely begin to fall ahead of that in anticipation of the launch.
I hope it is less than $12k, probably more like $10k. Either way, gt3's appear -by historical standards- to have the best residuals of any of the 911 variants.

In the current economic climate selling a Porsche in a cash poor climate is not going to be pretty.

The poor economy will not last, of course.
I do not believe that $100k is the threshold. I mean show me or any Porsche enthusiast a 997 GT2 in the low $100s and I run there or fly first class to buy it.
The under $100k gt3 sale prices just supports the approximate 10% per year depreciation rate. I would consider this especially good given the pooor climate.
I basically paid 66 cents on the dollar. It was an 08 GT3 model, no stories.
Maybe its me but who isn't getting outrageous, once in a lifetime pricing on a used 911? Yes, its the economics, yes, it will get better, but no one is comfortable dropping $125K+ on any automobile especially when the resale of their current car is terrible.
A 997.1 GT2 isn't 100K yet but I'm seeing prices in the 150s right now...

Well, the only accurate answer is, no one knows, but your estimate sounds high. I recently bought an '05 GT3 with only 6K miles, showroom condition, and paid almost exactly 50% of its sticker. Of course it was 4 years old, but depreciation is a diminishing scale. Based on unknown factors, I would guess in the $80K-$90K range.
Given their MSRP disparities, does anyone find it interesting that one can apparently get similar age and mileage 996 GT2's and 996 GT3's for nearly comparable amounts?
