Say what you will but the Vette's only chance was to bump and run. He bumped and bullied to force the Porsche to back off. The Porsche held it's ground and the Vette suffered the consequences. The 45 car wasn't in the mood to be intimidated and held fast. Good for them. When you look at the bumper car bull**** that the vettes engaged in during the course of the race you can't help but think that they got their just reward.
You should put as much pressure on the guy infront as possible without punting him off or spinning him, this is all part of the game. What Jan did was ok but what Jorg did was downright disgraceful.
Who knows, the Porsche might have been too defensive in his lines and on his speed. This would have slowed down Jan. If your too defensive, its totally ok in my view to put some love taps just to get him to stop looking at his mirrors and block you everywhere. This is another reason why Jan had his headlights on, Jorg was just too defensive and more concerned about keeping his lead and blocking.

It looked like the Corvette getting pushed on the wall and the Porsche driver hitting from the mid to back right panels, causing the vette to spin head on to a wall. You just dont do this in any type of racing.

Love taps, and bumps to pass are two different things, don't group them together as if they are synonymous. We see people tap from behind all the time, but never as a tactic used to pass someone, but just to let the driver in front know they are there. Two totally different scenarios.
And secondly, Jorg has a right to pick a line and drive straight, and that's what he did after shutting the door, he drove straight. Jan ran out of courage about 2ft from the wall and started turning into Joerg which caused the spin. In the detailed pictures posted you can see Joerg on the brakes at the same time Jan starts to spin.
Someone that is trying to spin you does not hit the brakes when you start spinning, they do the opposite.
The more likely scenario is that Jan got slightly ahead and tried to close the door on Joerg like Jorg did on him coming out of the turn, but spun himself out.

hey guys i thought racecars don't have headlights?
I speedracer no headlights lol

Yup!
It ain't No love tap when No 4 vette took out 3 cars on turn 2. No3 bump and almost ran a GT3 challenge car off the track going into the corkscrew on the last two laps. Just look at the Prototype race finish. Both cars went into the last turn together - without touching each other. That's how you finish a well fought race. Leave the bumper car mentality to 24 hours of LeMons

Well, I am not sure you can call BMW's recent move as "green" but they sure try hard to convince. I won't bash on the latest M3 but weight and fuel thirsty V8 made me look at other "green" car . BMW promised a hardcore M3 for the next generation in 2014. We will see about that. let's hope they are not going to re-badge 135i and make it the new M3 lol

"It was really good, hard racing," said Magnussen. "I didn't think I even had a chance after I had to give the position back. Going into the last corner I was too far away to make a proper attack, but Joerg parked the car. I didn't see that, so I slid up and hit him a little – he went sideways and I managed to get on the inside. It was a drag race up the hill, and I managed to get ahead of him. Then he turned me into the wall, and he kept turning in. Then I spun around the nose of his car."
Only a telemetry reading from both cars can really prove who was in the wrong at the final corner.

This was exactly how I saw it. You guys might have a different opinion but I believe this to be correct.
Also holding your own line doesnt mean blatantly going from one side of the track to the other with the intention of punting the other car off.
We're all entitled to an opinion and mine is Magnussen was being reckless and doing whatever he needed to do (which is fine) to win. This was evident with the multiple hits throughout the race, not to mention his pass on pit lane to which he then had to allow Joerg to pass. He was racing dirty - NASCAR style and the last so-called "slid up and hit him a little" didn't appear to be unintentional has he did that plenty earlier on. BS!
My opinion is he got what he deserved and the outcome was right on.
The Vette boys are just having a tough time now that they're in GT2 and aren't used to the competition.
Keep in mind these Vette and Porsche drivers get paid by the factory to win races and have a lot of pressure on them to get the job done. I know Johnny O'Connell, Fellows, Pilgrim and the rest of the Corvette team and they have or had a lot of pressure on them to win at all costs. Some of them drive clean and smart (guys mentioned above) and some don't (Jan & Gavin who took me out of the ALMS race while we were leading....let's just say it took some restraint from me to not go next door in the pits and get into Oliver's face about that one!).
My take on it was it was hardcore racing and most pros would have done/reacted the same way. Jan tried to move Jorg in turn 11 and Jorg fought back as he had nothing to lose already clinching the GT2 Championship. The Laws of Physics took over when they were both leaning on each other and Jan was inching ahead and the force of the Porsche pushed the Vette around.
Let's just say us Porsche racers get moved around a lot by Vettes, Vipers, etc so it was nice to see Jorg push back......
While I never want to see a crash like that, it was great racing until the end and that's why everyone is talking about it.
And if you think the Vettes aren't prepared to beat the competition, let's just say everyone else is worried about them. They have an incredible team and the car is an overdog........2010 should be the best year ever in GT2 with over 15-18 cars planning to compete........that's almost as many WC GT cars!

You know, his account actually makes sense after watching the video.
I'm beginning to think #45 (Porsche) was the malicious one here in the incident, not the Jan (Vette).

Both of them are at fault, and both have been issued a 2-race probation.
The way I see it, Mags was being really really aggressive, like most of the vette drivers. The highbeams and the aggressive/dangerous attempts at overtaking probably didn't help Jorg's temper. And in Turn 11, the love-tap Mags gave to the rear of the GT3 that almost spun Jorg out, and because of that Jorg took a very defensive line.. pushing the vette all the way to the way. Looks like as the Mags got ahead of Jorg (probably 3/4 ahead), the pushing from Jorg was all directed to the rear quarter.. which spun him out. There was some dirty rubbin' going on, but damn that was an AMAZING race, most exciting I've seen in a while. Crash was unfortunate but when **** hits the fan, you gotta do what you gotta do right?

Good to get your feedback James and I could just imagine how you felt after getting wipe out by No 3 vette on turn two which took away your lead position and cost more than 1 hour of repair - not to mention you had to run without your rear bumper.
Every race team get tremendous amount of pressure to win but that does not justify reckless driving - it's not a NASA amateur race after all. You guys spend countless hours of work and research to get your car just right to race and you certainly don't want to end your competition by someone dive bomb on a faster class car which in turn take you out - that is just flat out retarded. Agree on what happen to Jan and Jorg at turn 11. Will look forward to 2010 ALMS season!
