* Choose the one a couple of post above
* Choose a used one for $109K

The benefit of used is that I have a tax credit I can apply from a trade-in. My broker/dealer can't apply a tax credit to me as Porsche won't sell a brand new car to a dealer, only to an end-user. Dealers can trade them of course, but again, the tax credit won't apply.

So I'm looking at $109K + $1,500 in transaction fees + $1,000 in shipping ($111,500) for the used one with 1,500 miles with a $118,500 sticker

or

New, $123,970 sticker, selling for $115,970 + $8,117 tax + $1,000 shipping ($125K)
I am not sure why you can not find a used one in the 85-100k range with low miles......118k is too high

How's the PPI coming along on the 2008 Gallardo you are looking at? I think that is a much better deal than all the GT3s that you are looking at. Stay focus! You know you want a V10 engine!

Not well. I asked the for the PPI, and then I learned today that their deal fell through. They never owned the car and they did not tell me at the time they were *attempting* to take it in on trade.

Yeah, V10 would be nice. I can't say that I would not love a Gallardo -- I would. I really do love Porsche, and I've never had a GT3.

Just get both!! With your bargaining skill you should be able to find a nice 04 Gallardo and 04 GT3 for the price of the 2010 GT3. Think about it!!

Hey Taylor,
By chance did your car end up out here in WA? We had one just like yours show up at our weekly meeting. The owner was even talking about the 650 kit it came with:

I think I'm tearing a little. Yes, that's my baby

Damn she cleaned up well.

She got boring, even with the 650hp kit. Don't get me wrong, the power was incredible, but it's amazing how quickly one (I in this case) can get used to that power.

I need her back but in GT3 form

hey, you seem to find some decent deals all the time. how much is the broker charging you and is this all his research finding the cars?

i want a way to tap into dealer inventories on the used and new side without going into each individual dealer's website. anyone know how?

cars.com, autorader, ebay, 6speed and other car forums are all your friends!

it takes some time, but it's always fun looking through the ads. If you don't like to negotiate or spend time on the ads, send me a PM, I'll be ur broker

so far, i have looked at my locar porsche dealer inventories, cars.com, and autotrader. dont like ebay but maybe i should look there too.

maybe im being a little hasty but in the last 3 weeks, hardly anything has changed in the cars and autotrader websites. the same cars over and over

here on 6 speed, there is just 1 or 2 active gt3 for sale threads.

Hmmm, sounds like you need a GT2!

Couple of thoughts on this...

* a broker can tap into dealer-to-dealer networks, so I have him looking out for one with the specifications I want
* in parallel, I'm contacting dealers with cars that meet my criteria. I then tell them what I think it's worth. Some dealers have listed their GT3's (2007s) at over $100K and within a round or two of emails, they're in the high 80's.

Contact CatsExotics and they can help you.

Some dealers are still holding on tight (head in clouds) that these 2007s will go for low $100s, high $90s. It just doesn't add up.

I'm using the following depreciation scheme (from MSRP):
* 15% year 1
* 10% year 2 and 3 (accounting for partial years).

I base the above timelines from the inservice date.

I find that many/most dealers are quite arrogant about their GT3s. I know it's a special car, but it doesn't evade the laws of economics. Not to say some poor sap won't pay close to $100K because they don't know any better, but come on...these are GT3s and it usually takes a special buyer to buy this special car. Not many saps buy GT3s, thought I don't have data to support that.

Also, I've been very diligent about getting DME reports (known as Vehicle Analysis logs) along with a warranty history check (though an independent Porsche dealer). I've had several GT3's that I was going to buy, but that eventually did not pass muster.

I had no idea buying a solid GT3 for a fair price was going to take so long and be such a pain. Would it be easier if I just paid $95K and called it a day -- sure it would. That's just a silly waste of money IMHO.

My price is $88K for a $120K MSRP 2007 GT3 with 2.5 years of in service life, <7K miles, excellent condition with clear warranty history and DME. I think the economics/math works -- just need sellers to get their heads out of the clouds.

OH, and yes, I'm still seriously considering buying a new 2010 GT3. I have a $123K MSRP that surfaced yesterday (not the black one) that I've negotiated down to $115K (brand spanking new, 5 miles).
