997 GT3 Dension Ipod Installed

Got my unit from Eric at Bumperplugs.com yesterday. Installed it this afternoon. Only took about an hour or two to install. Real easy. Hides nicely in the boot. Works like a champ. Controls are a bit quirky, but I think it just takes some getting used to.

The track names appear on the display? Can you give details on how it works? What do I need to order from Eric? How soon can I have it here in NY? I need 2, actually. My wife would KILL for this in her Carrera 4!

Ryan

I had a question, what am I seeing in the last picture you provided showing the display in the 997? Is there a radar remote display or lap counter?

where did you mount the Dension?

I will pick up my 997 TT wed

Thanks

Badbruno

I mounted the Dension underneath the DVD unit for the Nav system (the big black box on the right side of the picture). Just enough room to screw it in.

Display in the picture is head unit for G2X data logger.

They are the only band on my IPOD. 1,300 Live soundboards shows

The IPOD is kept in the trunk (I never take it out). If you look at the pictures, I keep it in the little compartment above the black box. Just notched the plastic door a little, and run the wire thru that.

FYI- I read an article that suggests creating playlists and using them to "browse" the songs rather than browsing the conventional way. Supposed to be quicker navigation. YMMV.

The first 4 or 5 iPod/iTunes playlists are accessible from the PCM main screen as if they were CDs. On my 996TT, I experienced some quirks navigating through the whole list (4500 songs), but no issues with playlist. It's a very decent product.

Bear in mind that it's either CD changer or Dension, can't have both, and that if you don't have a CD changer, your car needs to be reprogrammed so that the head unit looks for one (5 minutes job at a dealer).

Ryan - where did you splice power from ?

Can't recall the wire color, but basically the power supply to to the nav dvd unit (just use a voltmeter to figure out which one)

On the contrary, you can have both, install with dual fios is easier than without CDC. The rub is you must run the aux control box inside unless you want to open the trunk each time you want to switch to CDC vs ipod.
You may or may not need reprogramming without CDC in car.
