The last I heard, 997 GT2's were going for $275K in the US. I think there's only something like 8 of them here so far.

I don't know why anyone would pay almost $300K for a 911.

For the tremendous performance capabilities of the GT2, I could see the msrp of $190K being slightly acceptable. $300K, not so much.

A 2005 996 GT2 MSRP was $190,000+. So a 997 GT2 MSRP at $191,000 is not out of the ball park. There will be 300 997 GT2's imported to the US in 2008. $50,000 over MSRP.

The 997GT2 will keep pace with an LP640 that cost $420,000. How is the 997 GT2 over priced?

Well, you paid over $200K for a Gallardo. That was a bad purchase, performance wise. You could have purchased a 996TT that would out perform it on the street and track.

Simple! A tuned Civic will beat both. Speed doesn't equal $$$. It's still a Porsche and unlike a CGT it's still a 911 and a 911 is not worth $250K+ as it is NOT an exotic and there are far better choices in that price range, such as a Lambo.

You do not know what I paid and you are way off in your estimate. Also, I did not buy it for street performance or track. I bought it for overall ownership experience and it gave me just that. If I want a fast Porsche I'll get a 2003 996TT for $65K then throw in $15K in mods and call it a great value.

That's a really tough choice! I'd say the Lambo but that's just because I've heard that it's a completely re-engineered version of the '08 car and actually shares very little with the current version. Performance wise, they should be similar but the Gallardo will definitely stand out more in a crowd. Hard to say which would be more fun to drive. Just follow your heart and wallet.

The Gallardo is not that great of a driver, right. You sold yours and I do not see another one in your list of awesome cars list (and I mean that too).

The Gallardo is a great looking car (better than the 911) and this is coming from an Italian who has owned 911’s since I was 18 years old.

Do not take my comments the wrong way. I would much rather be driving an Italian car, but for the money the 911 out performs most cars and that is what I call DRIVING EXPERIENCE.

The LP640 is the best all around Lambo.

i'd anyday go for the lp.. much more exotic.. besides both cars have 0 - 60 times of 3.7 secs and lp560 gives you 30+ bhp.. the lamborghini will be the best of both worlds.. owning an exotic + great performance + killer looks.. whereas the 911 is a drivers car.. depends on what you want
the lamborghini would rock my day!

+1!

I am seriously considering placing an order for the LP560 after I have driven my LP for some time.. May be even around the end of this year or early next year.
