Unlike the fixed-roof Reventon, the Roadster will be based on the LP670-4 SuperVeloce, though it will share the aggressive and extroverted aircraft-inspired style of the hardtop. The first Reventon, introduced in 2007, was based on the then-range-topping LP640 and it was powered by a 650-horsepower V12.
The Reventon Spyder will get the LP670-4 SuperVeloce’s 670-horsepower, 6.5-liter V12, as well as its upgraded all-wheel-drive system and low-weight, high-strength structure. While the hardtop Reventon was capable of a 220-mph top speed, the Roadster’s top-end will be a little lower because of the additional drag, despite the power increase.
Expect the passenger area to be covered by a removable cloth panel, though a carbon fiber cover might also make an appearance.
A reliable source at Lamborghini indicates that just 15 Reventon Roadster production models are slated. Each will carry a retail price of about $1.6 million, a healthy $600,000 premium over the standard hardtop model’s asking price in 2008, the only year it was offered.
