I'm am seriously looking at Gallardos & would like to hear from owners of E-Gear & Manual transmission vehicles, pros & cons. I'll be trading a 996TT that is pretty sersiously modified and want to hear from anyone who went from Porsche Turbo to Gallardo....
Thanks,
Richard

Bro I have had 3 Gallardos. I will tell you hands down the 6 speed is the way to go. The e-gear is not that good. My 360 and my M3 are both better. Lamborghini missed the boat on the reliability as well. My 6 speed seemed to have less problems. If you plan on any track days plan on a new clutch. The way to go is 6 speed and do an after market clutch. I an working with a company to do the entire assembly replacement not a rebuild like most Lamborghini dealer feel is good enough. To be honest the car looks awesome but it just isn't as good as you think when you buy it.
My good friend just got an 05 Gallardo. He told me I was off in my assumptions. Well he was wrong. His car had 400 miles when the first clutch went due to throw out bearing failure. Then he got it back after 2 weeks and finished the breaking period. (not heavy start and still lost the first one) Then went to track day were clutch didn't ever make it though the day. Lamborghini is now tring to buy the car back and give him a 6 speed. This is the the standard sonario for Lamborghini ownership. Sorry to burst your buble. If you just want to cruise it may be ok, but I like to drive without worries of breaking down.
I know quite a few people with both E-gear G's and 6 speeds, who have never had any problems, track their cars, beat th episs out of them and love them. Dont take my word for it, go to my site and ask owners.
Murci is much better with drive train. Allen for every 5 owners that have know problems there is 1 owner that can't even drive his car. This does'nt happen with Porsche, Ferrari etc. I love Lamborghini style and the power is great, they just are not that realiable.
Personally I think it is a mistake to sell your tt for a Gallardo. I just don't like them. Now if you said you were getting a late model Diablo then I could understand.
However, I would definately get a six speed I am not into this semi auto clutch deals.
I have had 0 problems with the eGear on my Gallardo, and frankly, it still is a blast to drive, especially on twisty roads. I am BORED with my GT2, and decided to sell it. The 360 and Gallardo / Murci uses the same hardware, only ferrari runs a ferrari program on its cars, and Lambo runs a more aggressive Audi program.
As far as a stick gallardo...well I test drove that too, and the dead pedal is way to close to the clutch pedal, and it was a pain in the ass to operate the clutch. My foot kept on the clutch while trying to rest it on the dead pedal. It reminded me of the previous generation viper gts'. Go with eGear for sure, and you will not be disappointed.
eGear isn't a big fan of traffic, ...but then again, neither is 6speed. There is a slight learning curve, and if you ease into it off a dead stop, you won't have issues with jerking.
The gallardo was more exhillerating than the GT2, which made it more fun. Perhaps it was Porsche's Exhaust note...even the aftermarket note wasn't pleasureful to hear as the N/A note of the Gallardo. This Friday I'm trading mY GT2 for another eGear/F1... Stradale.
Richard, if you are not yet satisfied with the number of replies- Mansour (msindi) made a movie similar to yours. he hasnt been here recently but im sure he will be back if you want to ask him his reflections
Shank-
what color scheme did you decide on?
I like going f1 in your decision- the ferrari f1 is nice and feels very natural. i havnet tried it in a stradale but it was great in the 360! the auto feature was kinda weird tho- lotta high revs and uncomfortable rpms, but as long as you keep your hands on the paddles you will be OK!
