Looking for a small shelf stereo for my iPod and iPhone. Very tempted to go with a tube system because I like the looks. (Naturally, the benefits of tubes can't be fully optimized due to the inherent limitations of digital MP3s... but it looks so damn cool.)
Anybody got recommendations on something under $250 USD? I'm all ears.
Thanks!
DAVID

Thanks for the feedback. Want to stay in the $250-300 range (or less) because it's going into a vacation property that I may rent out on occasion to cover expenses. Want good sound, but don't want to tempt guests I don't know or to draw too much attention from the locals.
What do you think about Klipsch?
DAVID

I have the Harman Kardon one mentioned above and it's truly impressive. Much fuller sound that you would expect from such a small enclosure and sounds better than the Monitor Audio i-deck we have in another room. The only issue is the docking system is finicky as it is located just under the handle for the unit.
BTW the Monitor Audio i-deck I mentioned is another option if you don't like the boombox look of the HK (and I think we paid only $150 for this one at Audio Advisor): http://www.hometheatermag.com/ipodac...es/106monitor/). Aesthetics aside, if you are looking to fill a decent sized room with music, the HK is actually better.
Purchased Chestnut Hill's George. $499 and worth every spanking penny. If I had heard the Zepplin things might have been different, but the Chestnut Hill absolutely rocks.
"In a nearly endless array of devices designed for Apple's iPod, George stands out as one of the slickest."
